I agree he didn't forget how to coach. He's playing with hamburger meat while other coaches are playing with steaks. Until NIL increases no coach will have any long term success. It's the way business is run today.Ray's recent quote with GC shows his mindset in the 12 agonizing years he was AD. Who cares if we suck and keep finishing last in the conference because Lamont has proven years ago he can coach. He needs more time. But hopefully Donati changes the culture and this type of garbage thinking.
“It is cyclical. I believe that. It happens that way,” Tanner said, speaking to the media about his induction into the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday. “There’s ups and downs. We were talking about men’s basketball this morning a little bit with one of my friends, and just a couple years ago, Lamont (Paris) won 26 games. So, did he forget how to coach? No. I mean, things happen.”
We more than doubled the NIL he had from last season. The problem is we have to overpay for even bad talent to want to come here. Kids want to win, so they don’t wanna play for Paris because 3 of 4 seasons have been AWFULI agree he didn't forget how to coach. I've read and heard mention of 4.5 NIL? Rates at bottom 3 of league. What number did you hear and from what source? We more than doubled the NIL he had from last season. So extend him then, right?I agree he didn't forget how to coach. He's playing with hamburger meat while other coaches are playing with steaks. Until NIL increases no coach will have any long term success. It's the way business is run today.
Not necessarily. As I said "no coach" will be successful here without fair NIL distribution as other coaches play with. The telling point would be can he or someone else spend NIL $ wisely. So extend him then, right?
Mike Morgan recently said LSU and SC were at the bottom 2 of the SEC in NIL spent on basketball. And we gave him the money he requested to that he thought could put together a competitive roster. The problem is that everyone in the SEC raised their NIL budget. I have a friend that is a producer at a news station and he mentioned that no additional money was requested to try and entice better players, but that we would have to severely overpay because no one is interested in playing here that would move the needle. Money shouldn’t be a hindrance, but we have a coach that isn’t plugged in enough to know what it’s going to take to win, and doesn’t care about NIL to be out fundraising.I've read and heard mention of 4.5 NIL? Yet, he fired Muschamp, Martin and 2 baseball coaches after "things happened".Ray's recent quote with GC shows his mindset in the 12 agonizing years he was AD. I'm a Ray Tanner basher.I’m not a Ray Tanner basher . . . BUT. . . saying results are just cyclical sounds suspiciously like he’s saying “if Donati has success, it’s just because, you know, success is cyclical.”
Tell that to the Indiana football programNot necessarily. As I said "no coach" will be successful here without fair NIL distribution as other coaches play with. The telling point would be can he or someone else spend NIL $ wisely.
I was referring to basketball here at SC. Not sure how much MC $ was given to Indiana program. I will say $ was spent wisely in search of football players at Indiana.Tell that to the Indiana football program
From a financial and donor perspective, this is plausible and somewhat expected.I'm hearing talk that Paris won't be fired, that the school will make a deeper commitment to NIL and bring him back to avoid the payout.

Or is even trying in Lamont's case. Not sure LP or Mainieri even care
Why should they? They are making money that 99% of the population dream about just to constantly fail. Not sure LP or Mainieri even care
We could set a record for the least number of season tickets sold for MBB since the CLA opened. From a financial and donor perspective, this is plausible and somewhat expected.
He can coach one end of the court. Hint: it's not the end you score on.We better be prepared to make one heckuva commitment to NIL. Three of Lamont's 4 seasons have been historically awful. Nevertheless, the notion persists that he can coach.
We need donors for NIL. It's going to be hard to convince donors to give to NIL after seeing the product on the court the last 2 seasons. If we take a couple or more brutal beatings down the stretch, that could force Donati's hand.
Nothing I have seen leads me to believe he just needs better players. IF he could coach, we'd see progress throughout the season. Last season's team was a suckfest from start to finish. This year's team is just as bad.
Then maybe we can win 3 conference games next year.I'm hearing talk that Paris won't be fired, that the school will make a deeper commitment to NIL and bring him back to avoid the payout.
That's very relevant. What amount of money could convince a good player to come here and play for a terrible offensive coach? He can coach one end of the court. Hint: it's not the end you score on.
Pay me a million and I will come out of retirement. That's very relevant. What amount of money could convince a good player to come here and play for a terrible offensive coach?
I also heard the same.I'm hearing talk that Paris won't be fired, that the school will make a deeper commitment to NIL and bring him back to avoid the payout.
Unfortunately, no one who matters is reading it.The writing is on the wall. As it always has been.

I don't know, man, I just don't know.Heard the same. Had to shake my head.
Use the buyout for more NIL.
