At least you don’t get locked out if this board like Doug does to anyone that even tells facts on your football board.

I do find it humorous the Illini Faithful that used to poke fun relentlessly at NU in the 80’s have been supporting a program the last decade that is NU of the 80’s.

You mean like your so-called football program? LOSERS, again, again and again!
Oh, a whataboutism on a Northwestern basketball forum. Nice! Yep, our football team has been bad, yet it hasn't quite matched up to Northwestern basketball.

Sharpen your knife. It isn't cutting anything.

Maybe a knife isn’t needed when evaluating the state of the Fighting Lovies. They are well on their way to the worse decade in the history of the program. Last 3 coaches- Lovie 4-23, Cubit 2-6, Becky 4-20. That would be an unreal 10-49 conference record!

So keep on gleefully ripping on the NU BB team because it wasn’t good at all and it is easy to do after having its worst season of the decade. However, to stand up your football team as “not as bad” is amusing and reeks of homerism. So you have had your fun, go back to your board and tell each other how you are going to win the Big Ten next year.

Do I need to sharpen my knife more?

Yes, you trying to change the subject to football is both not hurtful and also a weak insult.

NW basketball has made 1 postseason ever. They capitalized on that by becoming a complete dumpster fire and returning to the bottom of the conference. It's sad when Rutgers is objectively better than you.

In the storied 114-year history of Illini basketball, the otters have never lost even 20 games. This year, they lost 21. But yeah, next year will be a complete reversal and they will be solidly in the Dance...

I change it even further. The Illinois Athletic department is in complete shambles. It has about 2 -3 programs total that are above average. One of them competes in a sport with 17 D 1 programs, but keep puffing out your chests just like I got to see the arrogance first hand for the last 30 years. Now go back to your own board and tell each other how much better you are than the mildcats after finishing with a worse record and dominating them in an OT game between bottom feeders this year. Be proud that you set the record for most losses in a season and lost to Florida Atlantic. A once proud program is reduced to posting on the boards of a dumpster fire of a program. Pathetic.

14 years ago, Illinois fans got to watch their team play in the national title game. Now they’re reduced to talking smack on the board of the worst major conference basketball program of all-time. We’re supposed to suck, the fact that the flagship university in a state with as much basketball talent as Illinois hasn’t made the sweet 16 since 2005 is astonishing.

Ecat is to OSU as you are to Illinoy. I love it!

I hate that they beat us twice this year and are in better shape next year, but my bet is that Collins brings in some talent to set things good again.

Crazy right. It won't be too hard to be a bubble team for us. The two wins we get against you won't be much of a resume builder, unfortunately.

You literally make my point on the arrogance of the Fighting Undie fans. Get a top recruit and then pull Giorgi out of your *** and all of a sudden the creeps come out from behind the shadows. This is AFTER setting a record for most losses in a season. Now you are battling for titles. LOL. Can you at least become average before you troll.

The program was good at one time. It’s too bad the Administration continues to run the athletic program down to the bottom of the rung in P5. Putrid hires in the Athletic Department and little support by the BOT have doomed the product. We’ll wait and see who transfers, gets kicked off the team, or gets denied admission by that crack staff down in CU, before we concede.

Just go away pal.

And the amazing part was, they pull the lucky horseshoe (Giorgi B.,who only Hofstra wanted) at a position of need, have a NBA guard on the roster (Ayo) along with another talented guard (Frazier) and STILL managed to finish with the worst overall record in the BIG and last in the BIG in KenPom, Sagarin and the NET WITH all those players!!! Incredible!!!

Yeah, the Dance is imminent for them, because savior Kofi is coming! Lol. At 6'10 290, he will no doubt look great chasing players all over the court in BU's defensive scheme....And, assuming they lose zero players (a HUGE if given their history) they still need a true 4 and a wing shooter.

Lol wut? From 12-21 to a bubble team won't be too hard? It would be one of the most amazing turnarounds in the history of your program, if not the most amazing. You predict that you are going to do that with all the question marks you still have as a team that Kofi isn't going to erase in one fell swoop? Good luck with that!

Our program hasn't had many turnarounds because we're hardly ever bad. We need a couple guys to fill the holes we have. We're bringing in a stud center. We will likely land TJ Holyfield as a grad transfer- both Duke and Kansas are trying to get him. Just need one more wing and our team is much better than last year. Looks like we're losing one guy to medical issues and potentially one more. We're returning over 70% of our minutes played on a young roster. If you can't see that adds up to a step forward, you don't know basketball.

We played the 11th most difficult schedule in the nation. We also finished ahead of a veteran Northwestern squad in the B1G. Had you guys not played the322nd worst non-con schedule in the nation, your record would have been even worse. Embarrassing what you guys did with a roster full of Juniors and Seniors. Now they're all gone.

I'm not sure I agree one hundred percent on your police work, there, Lou.

Pre season Illinois was ranked low 80's by KenPom and finished the season low 80's by KenPom.

I like a lot of what Illinois is doing, I like a lot of players on its roster, esp Georgi and Ayo, but you make it sound like Ali knocking out Sonny Liston. And Ayo may go....depends what the pro's tell him, how he does in camp if invited, etc., etc. He'd be dumb not to test it....and if they like him he'll jump.

A signal that Illinois has really been in the crapper for a long time is that you're coming onto the NU board and crowing about finishing ahead of a high academic school that you went 1-1 against this year. I'm sure we're all humbled.

A Fargo reference. That's what I appreciates about ya.

If you look at how KenPom evaluates minutes returning, Illinois is a top 40 team next season on KP. That's at the least a bubble team. Then again, look where Northwestern started the season, and look at how you performed.

This is why college sports are great. Fans of two bad college teams, arguing about which is worse. Meanwhile, both have been in the offseason for two weeks, while the rest of the teams in the sport continue with their postseason play. The next time either of these teams will play a game is eight months away, and none of this even matters because both will be projected to be on the wrong side of the conference median line in the preseason rankings. And yet, here we are.

I’m not even being sarcastic, this is why college sports are fun. Carry on!

Iowa lost 19 last year against a much easier schedule. It's almost like continuity and experience matter. Weird that statisticians use that as a predictive metric when willycat says it's not important.

They finished the previous season 88th on Kenpom, returned 72% of minutes, started out 34th, and finished this season 23-12 and 38th on Kenpom.

I haven't played competitive basketball in about ten years, since my last knee operation.

I agree that Illinois has the potential to be good next year, more balance than this year and a unified understanding of the system and expectations. But the range of possible outcomes is still wide. Georgi and Ayo are good citizens, if the team follows their model Illinois will finish toward the higher end of possible outcomes.

Northwestern started the season picked last or bottom three/four by virtually every expert. That is because NU had no point guard. NU finished within the range of where most experts expected.

You seem to have difficulty with facts.

Just curious, what does your basketball experience and knee operation have to do with the rest of your post? It seemed like you were leading somewhere, but you never address it again.

And what fact did I struggle with? You started this season 54th. That's a team with an outside shot at the bubble. You finished 75th. The previous season you went from 18th to 88. My point was that we would start out the season as a top 40 team on KP, but as you've proven, that's not necessarily indicative of where you'd finish.

The Fighting Undies will be very average next year and somehow I bet we don’t see you much. Of course, NU can do what the Illini do and just block trolls. Go away, corn man.

I'd rather not skip the playing. Beating Northwestern is like eating corn flakes; No one gets excited about it, but you just do it routinely and then go about your business.

It was really funny watching you guys arrogantly talk about a Final 4 the year after making your first ever dance. It's even funnier looking at where you are now.

Not to get too involved in this but, no. You didn't, just 10 days prior when he did play. He was pretty bad, only 9 points and fouled out.
