Is it just me or has Krafty Kraft backed himself into a corner?

Rrespectfully, how do you know what his plan A & plan B are/were?

Since we're playing the same game, here's mine:
Kraft had his guy before he fired Franklin.
So my plan A for Kraft:
The day after the Ohio State game, Kraft announces that Terry Smith will coach the remainder of the 2025 season.
He announces that on Monday, December 1, Urban Meyer will officially become the next head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions
Beginning November 2 through November 30, Meyer will be hired to the temporary position of Director of Football Scouting
From November 2 through November 30, Meyer will be charged with evaluating the entire roster and the entire coaching staff. Meyer will be in charge of recruiting during this time and will lead the evaluation of the transfer portal.
Penn State, if eligible accepts a bowl bid to a minor bowl. During the run-up, some will opt -out to turn pro, some will opt-out to enter the transfer portal. Two weeks of practice and the meaningless bowl game is used for those who want to be here in 2026.

Hey, I can dream.
I don't want a "He's never had Penn State's resources guy." I want the guy who has been the guy and wants to be the guy again.

It appears his Plan A and B won’t work or isn’t available. Rut-Roh.

How do you like me now?

Yep. Stupidest move in the History of College Football. But we have only ourselves and our implacable, miserable, entitled, abusive fanbase to blame. We will get what we deserve. Permanent mediocrity.

Sad and totally unnecessary.

You can't be seriously mad they fired Franklin. He earned it.

HA!!!! Look in the mirror. You and your spoiled brat boo bird buddies were worth at least 2 points for Northwestern., the two points we needed to win. Why do you think all the Northwestern players spontaneously, in mass, ran down to the student section to thank them after the game?.

James…Get to bed! Don’t you have a College Gameday appearance in the morning?

Ya. And $50,000,000 dollars of your annual media contract from FOX, NBC, and CBS to collect. My superstar replacement will collect the remainder of this year’s media contract and part of next year’s. So thanks!!!!

Speaking of that, when was the last time a fired coach was immediately booked on college gameday? There’s been hundreds of coaches fired over the years and I can’t think of anytime college gameday booked them for an interview less than a week from being fired.

We'll see, i subscribe to the notion of taking your shot, even if you fail. Franklin wasnt getting you there.
Yes. It's absolutely fair to discuss the matter in good faith and not be in agreement over whether this should have happened, or what should come next.

But the fact of the matter is that other major programs have fired head coaches, and taken a chance with someone else, and found a higher level of success. There are people out there that just need their chance.

Sorry. What are we supposed to be mad about?
3 straight losses? Whiteout losses? Losses in big games?
The next person can suck and still get us those results.
An indisputable point.

It is very weird how people were satisfied with forever beating the dregs of the conference and three OOC cupcakes, and then always dumping to the good teams. That can still absolutely happen. It's not hard for a major program to climb to that level of success.

The issue is where you never deliver a 'W' against a tough opponent. 3 losses last year: Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State. Not a coincidence. Not outlying data points. A distinct trend.

And then this year-- a season where the head coach PUBLICLY pushed all of his chips into the middle of the table... and suddenly couldn't beat 20+ point underdogs. A team with no coaches that was averaging 14 ppg. A team that is the perennial conference doormat.

And people are actually over here going, "I don't know how we can possibly replicate this level of success!!"

That is not a serious argument. It's buffoonery.

There’s absolutely a scenario where this goes wildly wrong, both the new HC and Kraft lose their jobs. There’s also the Mark Richt effect where good not great doesn’t cut it and the next guy elevates the program over the hump. Huge risk huge reward.

It's over, we're back to the Paterno years.

BOY do I wish you were right! Those days will never be replicated in this money grab world. We were SOOOO blessed and lucky to have had the opportunity to experience that.

Sad thing is, the people that will be negatively affected the most are the kids that think a $100,000 dollar payout to sell themselves out to the highest bidder is worth more than a good College diploma.

I have a hunch you and your boo bird buddies will be doing a LOT more booing in the next few years unless we are able to magically pull a Cignetti or Kirby Smart out of a bottle.

All true. But the fallout on the recruiting and roster could put us in a bad place for several years. The firing of Franklin rings of the old sage piece of advice: "Be careful of what you want, you might just get it"

Those kids were sold out a long. long time ago. Most of them didn't much care.

Yeah thats why we lost - I was at the game the booing had nothing to do with the loss - I guess the cheering is why we lost the Oregon Game - we lost both because our Head Coach has run his course here - you are not owed a job for life and sometimes it just runs its course. Franklin will be just fine and Kraft better not F this up.

I hope you are correct and that plan B just moves that timetable up by a few weeks.

Your conjecture (plan A) is about as close to perfection as could be imagined.

When did I "boo" anyone?
Franklin's big game failures were so bad even he admitted it was no longer a narrative. He failed to hire coordinators that would get the most out of the talent he had. He lost back to back games when favored by more than 20. There's no defense of anything that has happened.

He had to go. And, as I've said throughout, I don't care if we're 3-9 or 9-3. If you don't make the playoff you've failed. He brought back everyone and got the DC he wanted but couldn't get his team prepared for UCLA who had 2 days with their staff to create a game plan.

He doesn't hold players accountable. We see the same mistakes on repeat. He refuses to play young guys.

I never wanted Cignetti. Not for a second. I do hope they hire a young coordinator. Hopefully they turn out to be comparable to Smart or Lanning. If not, you fire them and move on to the next option.

We all knew under Franklin we weren't winning a title. He can't win big games. Then he started losing layups. Had to go.

As more comes out you'll see McShay's version of Franklin is the real version
