Maybe I am mistaken but It seems to me that the overall quality of play is down quite a bit this year compared with last year. Last years teams in 1A, 2A, and 3A West just seemed so much better. I know that there is always flux from one season to the next. Some teams get better, some rebuild...get that.... But this year it seems like everyone's down from top to bottom. Apologies to teams I haven't seen in far SW Virginia and teams from the East. I could be wrong. Has anyone else noticed this. I know that more and more teams are having lower numbers turnout which has to affect overall quality. Many kids today don't want to do the hard word that competing requires it seems.

There is a lot of bad football being played at all levels across the state. Getting to the point it's hard sometimes to actually find a good game to attend. Or what you think might be a good game.
I agree with u, over all I have not been impressed with to many teams I have watched this year either.
The quality of football in VA has been on a downhill slide for the last 8-10 years. There a lots of teams that I saw in the 90s that didn't win State Titles that would blow out some of the State Champions of the last several years.
The game isn't nearly as physical as it used to be and thus, the quality suffers greatly.
Teams don't play defense anymore thus, the quality suffers greatly.
Its all about finesse not hard-nosed, smash-mouth like it used to be thus, the quality suffers greatly.
Now I'm not saying there aren't any outstanding players/playmakers, there are plenty, but the overall quality of team football has diminished greatly since the early/mid 2000s.
