Growing up near Charlotte, I was a huge fan of the Hornets when I was a kid when they had Bogues, Johnson, Morning, even up till they left. Once they came back as the Bobcats I didnt really care for the team. I dont really have a favorite team just watch our Duke boys. I've really tried to become a Hornets fan again but find myself pulling against them. My wife told me I was mean cause we went to the Grizzlies game earlier this week and I laughed when Morant won the game for them. I told her I just cant bring myself to pull for a team ran by a tar heel that has a tar heel, three Wildcats, a jayhawk, and a Louisville Cardinal on the court. I do miss wearing hornets shirts, and I love the mascot and the colors but just cant pull for them. What are yalls thoughts, is it ok?

They are a cheater u based basketball franchise and it could get deeper. I pulled for the Hornets when they had Bugsy, Johnson, Mouring and crew. No Duke players I can remember. Right now if you say who is my favorite NBA team I would say the Pelicans because they have the most Duke players. I also pull for the team with the most Duke players on which ever team is playing. I've never really had a favorite NBA team though. If you want to pull for Hornheels go right ahead and don't feel bad about it. I just can't imagine later on in the year when Charlotte is playing New Orleans and there are 5 players on the floor from Duke and you are yelling "let's go Charlotte. " OFC

If you want to pull for the original Hornets you pulled for in the 90’s.. then you need to pull for the Pelicans.. they are the REAL Hornets.. the current Charlotte Hornets are the Charlotte Bobcats rebranded.

That’s how I justify me jumping ship to be a Pelicans fan this year and beyond :)

Only if Roy turns down rooting for them first.

In all seriousness, why not? Look at guys from both Duke and cheater U playing or have played together in the league.

Real good point. I was a Baltimore Colt fan.I'm a Indianapolus Colt fan now. A lot of Colt fans especially from Baltimore stopped pulling for them and I understand that and now are Baltimore Raven fans. That's fine. No big dealove but I just cannot support a franchise loaded with unc cheater u basketball players and if there were enough of them in the NBA right now that we're worth a hoot they would be Hornheels. I lived most of my life in Charlotte but move just across the state line into South Carolina about five years ago. I too was a Hornets fan before they became the bobcats. I cannot and will not pull for them now that they are owned by the “ceiling is the roof” guy.

I haven’t pulled for any specific NBA team since the late 90’s when the Bulls dynasty ended when MJ retired for the second time and the rest of the team was pretty much disbanded. I rarely even watch the NBA these days other than the All Star game and/or maybe bits and pieces of the NBA Finals. I try to keep up with how former Duke players are doing but that’s mostly through posts I see on Facebook or from threads posted on here or other message boards.

You moved to S.C. So the drive to the Clemson games would be shorter? Come on man....come out of the closet and wear that orange proudly!!

I’m a hornets fan. I’ve been with them since the 90’s. The issue is ;

Charlotte isn’t a free agency destination
Up until Mitch came their scouting both college and overseas was horrible( all have been replaced)

Jordan ok’d horrible contracts prior to Mitch which was a cap hold on a team that wasn’t gonna contend so no need going over the luxury tax for a subpar team.

They continue to bring in stupid contract. Paid Rozier 58 million for three years , yet Devonte Graham has out performed him.

Washington was a good pick up and Bridges.

Look for good things from the Hornets in 2021. They will have cap space, bad contracts gone and draft pics.

As for Jordan I’ve been wanting him to sell the team but rumor is he brought in the two new investors to help him build the brand more.

As far as the tar heel connection, if you really want to see how dumb founded Jordan is. He had the chance to draft Danny Green in the second round the year he came out with Hondo. He passed. Player evaluation is key in the league and no one until this year has been doing a good job with the hornets until this year.
