Is Joe Flacco a ELITE quaterback?

Just when I think he finally got a good start to the season and playing well. He tosses 2 picks (one wasn't his fault) but then almost throws 2 more.. Not even halfway through the game!

I don't care how good his tools are.. You can't be this derped and still be a top tier QB. Dude is simple.

Agree. Its mindnumbing to think Eli has 2 superbowls while Peyton has 1. Of course, each of Eli's came as a result of 2 hail mary, otherwordly catches by WR's in desperation situations.

Flacco has a good arm and he is not afraid to make throws into tight spots. That can really play out well in the playoffs on 3rd down and in the 4th quarter when you need to either score or hold the ball. Regular season NFL is very different from NFL Playoffs. I think about a guy like Anquan Bolden. Decent WR during the regular season because against the vast majority of the NFL you can go deep over their heads or underneath for screens, but in the playoffs against great D's when you need to hit those 10 yard cross patterns over the middle to move the chains you need Anquan Bolden's ilk. You also need guys like Flacco and Eli that can and will gun it in their. Mario Manningham was crucial on both NYG teams that won the Super Bowl for the same reason. Its the difference between Peyton Manning and Eli. Peyton can call the right play, but I would still trust Eli to throw the pass.

You do make a good point though - Eli is more prone to throw risky throws. But with the weapons that guy has around him, he should be much better.

To me, Flacco is a guy that has been asked to just manage the team in his years with the Ravens. I feel like they wanted to be a power run team with a strong defense and not sling it around the field. Flacco in the playoffs has proven time and again that he is a very good QB when asked. All that said... very good = yes but elite= no

Since everyone loves a list...

As I seem them today:

1. Rodgers
2. Brady
3. Roethlisberger
4. Romo
5. Rivers
6. Brees
7. Luck
8. Wilson
9. Pey Pey
10. Dalton

Can't argue against Rodgers and Brady as the two best in the league right now. Big Ben took his game to another level starting last year. He's playing the best ball of his career, is probably the best intermediate passer in the NFL, and has been money on the deep ball. Romo is criminally underrated and will never get the respect he really deserves. Rivers has 12 kids and screams like a toddler, but he's a tough son of a ***** and can quarterback my team any day. Debatable from there for me and hard to slot guys. It's really tough to place Peyton at this point but the guy is still winning games. Dalton is playing great but I still don't trust him with heat in his face. He's always played like a ***** when there's pressure in his face and I don't know if that's something that you can change. Plus, they're the healthiest team in the NFL and haven't beaten a team with a winning record. Confident they'll win 11-12 games though, and Dalton deserves a lot of credit.

Eli is overrated. Led the league in INTs multiple times in his prime and never had great accuracy. Rivers is twice the QB that Eli is.
