He is in the doghouse due to his play against Bama. I doubt that he returns for a 2nd year at UK. We might return Moreno and Noah. IMO

This entire season, from the coaching staff down to the last guy on the bench, is an unmitigated disaster. If Pope wants to keep his legacy as a player intact, he’ll step down at the end of the year. And Mitch needs to be shitcanned yesterday.

Johnson will be at North Carolina next year. Another question given our horrible post offensive production is where is Jelly?
I do think Johnson shows nice potential as a scorer. He’ll eventually be putting up a high scoring average for someone (not sure if it’ll be at UK).
But, man, he’s been SO disappointing in other areas of the game. He does not play defense. And he doesn’t seem to understand the concept of being a distributor at all. It often looks like he doesn’t does even try to look for open teammates when he has the ball. He’s only thinking about his shot.

What recruits or transfers are going to want to play in this program going forward??? I love uk but no chance I would sign up for this under this administration next season.
the ones that want money....just like all other recruits and transfers. every year there are portal losers in both football and basketball. last year KSU, Indiana, and KU "won the portal" and had terrible results. this year....its us.
but that all can shift next year. but its 50-50....just like anything else

He’s essentially Rob Dillingham. A complete dud outside of getting his own shot. But instead of being an A+ scorer like Rob, he’s like a B-. Making it much harder to deal with his shortcomings than it was with Rob
It would be a good thing if Pope the Dorky Dope could recruit. But he can’t. So it doesn’t matter. We’ll just replace them with mediocre HS recruits and portal players in the 75-200 rank range.

He's struggled this year against the better teams, but I must admit ... I thought he'd come in when Missouri went zone.
He was a McDonald’s all American. He does not suck, he clearly isn’t being coached very well if that isn’t obvious by the entire rest of the team’s performance lol
Unfortunately, he’s looked pretty unplayable when he does see action against high major opponents. He pretty much exclusively hunts his shot without providing anything else, and he ends up taking such forced shots that he isn’t exactly setting the world on fire as far as his scoring pace.
Is some of that coaching? Probably. I’ve definitely lost most if not all of my faith in this staff given everything else that’s happened. Would giving him more minutes be a solution to any of our problems? Most likely not.

Easy answer: the ones who love money. Because that’s all it really takes nowadays, a big fat NIL fund.
But we need to be more judicious about who we offer that money to. We overspent for the wrong kind of players this year.
He did the same thing BG got reamed for by Pope and most every fan....made a bad TO and then jogged back on "defense" during the AL game.
He averages pretty much the same assists per game as Lowe. Same number of turnovers. I wish they'd give him some run and let him learn. This season is lost anyway.

Yeah, and so were guys like Khalil Whitney, Damion Collins, Marcus Lee, Sasha Killeya-Jones, etc. Sometimes McDonald’s All Americans suck.
Not saying JJ will be as bad as those guys, but it takes a real short memory to think that simply being a McD AA is proof of anything. We’ve had a lot of burger boys that it turned out couldn’t play worth **** at this level.

I like Johnson as a player but he has to get stronger. I think the staff taking Johnson over Braydon Mullins was a mistake. He's killing it at UCONN.
Does he deserve more minutes than he gets? Yes. At the same time I also feel he’s one of the problem guys on this team. He’s not near as good as he thinks he is, can’t defend and has some selfishness in him. He’s was overrated in high school. If he weren’t from KY and a Johnson then nobody would have gave a crap if we even recruited him.
My expectations for him were probably about as low as you’d find here before the season. I expected 5-7ppg and 3rpg. Had he came here expecting to be here atleast 2-3 years I think he’d been fine but he definitely expected to come in and go pro after one year. I also think he hits the portal as soon as the horn sounds to end the last game. Same for Jelly. They probably already have their bags packed. Hell I bet most leave now that I think about it. Pope will be lucky to return Chandler, Moreno and Williams off this roster. Everyone else will leave. He might keep Hawthorne.

Also, the big issue with Oweh is that he’s the kind of guy you surround with shooters like Brea Robinson and Carr….
Definitely a wish.com version of Dillingham. Not as good a scorer, worse on defense and less athletic. I still think he can give us more than Aberdeen has of late, would like to see him get some actual run next game.

Unfortunately I didn't expect much from Jasper Johnson in his freshman season.
At this point let the Hawthorne kid get some PT. Keep hearing how good he looks and seems to have alot of potential.
Since we lost , the tendency is to bash all our players. He didn’t even play a second against Missouri so we should hold off on some of the negativity.
JJ is a good freshman player that needs time and trust and to be thought good habits instead of some his AAU habits.
He is the type of player , we as a program , want to keep and develop. He is Kentucky kid from a good family that will be a great contributor in the future.

He’s terrible. I’ve never been high on him. Good scorer, yeah. That’s about it.
What a disaster of a season. Also, JJ is one of the most overrated players we’ve even recruited IMO. Never saw the hype.
under pope anyone can be overrated, mark my words if jj transfers he will look good anywhere else
