False. I called it before he ever got signed. He’s just average.
could be but theres flashes, i cant get a read on him because he doesnt play, i think if he got about 25 min a game he would average about 13 or so ppg
And give up 30. He isn’t good enough to be a chucker
Tahaad Pettiford is quicker, stronger, faster, has a better midrange, better handle, etc etc etc than Johnson.
hes also a sophomore, jj with more mins would look like a freshman tahaad

Yes, he sure was! This was my hope for JJ, to be like a Pettiford. However, once I saw him play, I thought, meh. Just isn’t that good I’m afraid.
Pope has no clue who to play. At this point we should throw out talent and see what happens. He can score and he needs minutes to get in the flow of games at this level.
There’s no way you watched Auburn last year if you actually believe this. Tahaad showed WAY more game as a freshman than JJ has. Not even close.
If it is confirmed that he is talking to another school during the season, I would not play him. If so, how does he get paid ?? Surely, this is not true. This is similar to the rumors that Tim Couch was talking with Ohio State after only a few games into his Freshman year. Geesh ...

Whoever ends up getting him, will teach him discipline, and he’ll end up being what he should have been at UK, by his junior season. Mark it
Not developing JJ and coaching him does nothing but further kill Pope chances at getting any high school stars. JJ doesn’t get to play yet Lowe looked like complete garbage the other night. If we saw that Lowe played like garbage, JJ knows it also. It just further hurts Pope in his players eyes and they lose respect.

I mean I guess. Those players last year all looked good and overachieved in Pope’s system.
EDIT: I just don’t like JJ’s game. All he can do is score and he has a tough time with that. His game has looked like garbage. Dude didn’t put ANY work in the offseason. He looks the exact same as he did in high school.
His Father is a coach. He went to play for Elite last year. With that background, certainly he has received some good coaching ??
Could it be that he has a mind of his own and its focus is not team-oriented ?? That is a question in my mind, not a certainty right now, but his play does not reflect a sincere attempt to help the team win, but seems to only be self-focused to the largest extent.
