Is Rattler the best QB option

At this point of the season he is not getting it done. Plus the play calling is not helping his strengths. Need more short quick passes.

That’s a valid point
Fire it to the other squad when it breaks down
Honestly, I don’t know what we can and can’t do with our skill players until we consistently start blocking. Bottom line the o-line has to be the foundation of any offense. We can have the best skill players in the world, but if we can get them the ball it doesn’t matter! 👀

I respect Doty, but he’s not an SEC QB. Maybe Rattler isn’t either. Reality is he’s stepping into an offense that’s still very much under development. Maybe if we had a firm offensive identity and some other skill players.

Sitting in the stadium and being able to see the field, there were plenty of underneath routes that were open. Weren’t going to stretch the field by no means, but some yardage was there. Rattler holds the ball too long looking to stretch the field. That only works unless you have a burner or force the D to play the entire field.

That said, I’m not at practice. I’m sure they are running the best option out there, but quite frankly, our secondary hasn’t been as good as last year either so he may be lighting them up at practice.

How many years does it take to get BIG nasty oline MEN?? It's been a major problem for many years yet we're still talking about it. Other Schools have quick turnaround we're told have patience.

Douglas got beat frequently and What in the world is going on with Jordan Burch? ON a RP option plays he literally doesn't commit either way and ends up just spectating the play. The kid from Gaffney was in our backfield frequently. We missed on him big time. ugh. Really all you can say. I would run those kids during practice until they dropped. Emanwori was in on almost every tackle in the second half. Kinda sad Dline and LB's vaporized

That is an interesting thought.

Outside of that, there was talk of "which rattler" would we see this year. I posted his numbers from his sophomore season earlier. This year looks to be a continuation.

Team TD INT
Tulane 1 2
W carolina 5 0
Nebraska 1 0
WVU 1 1
Ksu 2 1
Texas 0 1

This year
GA St 1 2
Ark 1 1
UGA 0 2

Five interceptions in three games. Very difficult to win any game with turnovers let alone against really good teams.

If I were Beamer I would sit Rattler and start Dotty. I know it was against UGA 4th stringers but Dotty looked a lot better to me than Rattler. Also right now Rattler doesn't go in the first round.

we don’t have the receivers to go up and get it.

The reason he was benched at OU was for making poor decisions on the field.
Too many USC fans ignored the fact he was benched. They bought into the preseason hype about him. Rattler is a turnover machine, always has been and probably isn't going to change. The first int he threw was one of the ugliest passes/ints I've ever seen. He literally could not have made a worse decision and throw. His second int was because he threw into tight double coverage and the db simply took the ball from the receiver.

Doty can't be any worse. If Rattler leaves, good luck to him. He will probably end up being another Tate Martell, a player who is convinced he is great and is the only person who actually thinks that.

He was just ok against Ga State, good against Arkansas and bad against UGA. Ga State was his first game. Against a good Arkansas team on the road, he played quite well. UGA is gonna make a lot of QBs look bad this year.

All in all, we’re breaking in a new QB into an offense that is still looking for an identity. Rattler is certainly not the biggest problem with the offense. He may not be in the top 5 problems.

Was he okay against GA state, and good against Arkansas?

He had 1 td and 2 int's against ga State. And he had 1 td and 1 int against Arkansas. That may be an oversimplified review, but those numbers don't instill confidence. I agree that you can wash out the uga stats.

I suppose my concern is that his td/int numbers look a lot like a continuation of his sophomore year at ou.
