This reminds me so much of the Curry days when we'd get shellac'ed and he'd lament in the post game "I don't understand what happened. We looked so good this week in practice."
That really bothered me so I asked my coaching mentor about it. He was a crusty old school coach who replied "CS vs CS always looks good in practice" which was a play off of that old standard, "You can't make Chicken Salad out of CS"
(which is not true ... You can but who wants it).
Iron sharpens iron and we apparently don't have enough of that on either side to prepare or improve the other.
So it appears the only time our players see quality competition is on Saturday and they and the staff definitely have trouble adjusting to the difference.
Maybe they will soon.
