I may get in trouble for this, but I think it is a fair question. Is there a fanbase that eats its own worse than UK football? We won, and we are still fighting. Why can't we drink a beer together, give each other high fives and wait for the next game? It has been this way forever. I guess it is because the internet gives everyone a voice to complain, but I don't think I've ever seen a more negative fanbase when we were sitting 3-3.[/QUOTE
Our fanbase is no different than any other fanbase. Fans are sports programs rant and rave every day all of the country whether their team wins or loses. If they didn't, there would be no message boards, no breakroom discussions, etc. People have always talked about the relative progress of their respective team, win or lose. UK football fans expect to beat Vanderbilt and usually by a lot of points. On Saturday, we had to struggle to beat them by 7 points. We were fortunate the Vandy tight end dropped the tieing touchdown pass in the endzone or we might have wound up losing in overtime.
UK fans have suffered losing football for decades despite continuous increases in ticket prices, parking passes, K fund contributions and the like. We are no more improved now than when UK played at Stoll Field. Fans get frustrated at the lack of progress while 80 miles down the road Louisville is doing some great things in their football program. When fans get frustrated, they rant on message boards. It's to be expected and we are no different than any other human beings who are fans of athletic teams
