Of course there’s hope.
Some sobering hard facts too though.
Here’s the situation without all the emotion people keep vomiting into this place lately:
Offense—We had the offense to beat Louisville, best team we’ve played so far. FTs are a valid concern FWIW.
Defense—We have the bodies and the athleticism to play defense at a very high level. Obviously we have big, big problems in terms of learning our roles, executing, and getting on the same page. Those are all things it’s reasonable to hope for because it’s not so rare for all those things to get fixed over the course of a season and completely turn a team around on the defensive end.
Turmoil—Something really bad definitely seems to be going on in terms of team harmony. Who on Earth knows what that’s really all about. Can’t hurt to hope that gets resolved. For all we know it’s totally fixable. And for all we know it’s not fixable ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Point Guard—Not gonna lie. Hard to see a realistic reason to hope for an answer to our PG problem that pushes our ceiling above Sweet Sixteen at the very very best. But who knows. At one point SGA was just a skinny, awkward-looking dude we thought had limited potential as a pure PG because his rep was as a combo guard.
My advice is stay grounded. But there’s always reason to hope.
Or if you want it poetic, take it from Gandalf:
“There is very little hope. But not no hope.”
