Is Venables too slow for the HC job?

It's taken 7 days ..... that's 168 hours .... for Venables to make up his mind and negotiate a deal with OU. Is he indecisive?

Contrast that to LR. Lincoln got a surprise call from USC after the Bedlam game. That was the first time he'd ever talked to USC. He talked on the phone to USC for about 45 minutes ..... had a peaceful night's sleep .... got up and had a conversation on Zoom with USC, and it was a done deal. Fortunately, his family's bags were packed and he was ready to head out to LA.

PS ... LR couldn't wait to get out of Oklahoma.

Maybe it's also OU taking time to avoid another Lincoln Riley scenario and finding a coach who can compete in the SEC....and who will be around when OU joins the SEC.
That's my theory.

It's highly unlikely the job was offered to BV seven days ago.

Venables was offered the job last week and accepted. He was working on putting together his OC/DC Lebby is OC not sure who the DC might be, my guess it was someone coaching yesterday and that is why there was a delay in the announcement.

Keep in mind I’m sure OU has to do a thorough vetting process and probably have to give interviews and due process even to some coaches who really aren’t in contention.

Poor Riley, must have been a real tough decision on his part. The kind of tough decision you make in a few hrs time.

Yes am sure Bob Stoops has been in many huddle meetings to make sure all pieces were together. To meet with players first and foremost...then do the important announcement. At a cross roads for this program. Thank you Bob Stoops for your hard work going into the Holidays.

No doubt. I freaking live in LA, work here, and if I even bring the conversation up to anyone, I hear crickets. LA couldn't care less about football. Riley really demoted himself. I really have to believe that he moved because he's scared.

I'm cool with a guy doing whatever it takes to feed his kids within reason. I'm not mad at Riley, but I do believe his *** has been exposed.

I think you are the only one that caught I was being sarcastic about LR. He wanted out of OU and couldn't wait to leave.

I caught it, I was being sarcastic about it being a "tough decision" for him. One he supposedly made in a few hrs. 😁

Can't tell if you're take is serious. But there are a lot of wrongs in the post.

USC has been looking and vetting for a HC since Sept. As such, his agents have been working w/ SC since then. There is absolutely no way possible that a deal could be hammered out in 12 hours or less.

The 7 days wasn't Brent accepting the job, it was 6 days before the job was offered to him formerly. I bet he accepted the HC for the Sooners as soon as the question was asked.
