Got the start for OKC tonight. He has 13 points and 7 rebounds with a couple minutes left in the third quarter. He had 9 in the first half.
How does that crow taste?ETA on when dingle will chime in with his ‘told ya so’ bit?
The biggest thing is that he just keeps cashing checks. IF he establishes himself over the course of a season or two, those guys make insane money.glad for isaiah.
if he keeps getting a chance, he might get traded to a team with a chance.
this is going to be a long season for thunder.
What crow? How does that crow taste?Who knows how long he'll stick around but he has the skills. One thing in his favor IMO is that he's a hard worker that as far as I know is clean and sober. The guy is an explosive athlete.
and its helps that presti is trying to show all the value he can for more picks. The biggest thing is that he just keeps cashing checks. IF he establishes himself over the course of a season or two, those guys make insane money.
I think your statement was "OMG, he's tall and can dribble". I'm sure you issued more than that one. ZJSARENOTREE insisted that he had no shot at playing in the NBA. There were several of you that ridiculed my evaluation of his talent and potential. What crow?![]()
Well, reading comprehension doesn’t seem to be your strength.I think your statement was "OMG, he's tall and can dribble". I'm sure you issued more than that one. Correct. You were making fun of me for my assessment of Roby. You hog piled on with somebody who was absolutely off base on their evaluation of Roby's talent. So now you apparently are admitting that I was correct. Good for you.Well, reading comprehension doesn’t seem to be your strength.I was making fun of you and not Roby. I said nothing wrong and I have no crow to eat. Btw, it’s been a couple of years, but I’m still waiting for you to show me where I said he wasn’t NBA caliber or apologize for making things up again. Still waiting. But hey, keep starting threads calling out zjswhatever for something he said a few years ago. Is he even on this board anymore?

I disagree. Roby would be playing G League if he was traded since that would be a better option than riding the bench. Roby is not going to be in pretty much anyone else's regular rotation. As a Sixers fan, I've seen what playing on a tanking team can do for a player. Robert Covington actually got a $46 million contract. But for every Covington there are 15 other guys who were just G League guys racking up stats while getting their *** kicked on the scoreboard. My hunch is that Roby is one of the latter, but time will tell.glad for isaiah.

G leauge is not a better option that riding the bench in the NBA. It's not even close. The G league pays somewhere around 40K per 6 month season for the average guy. The NBA minimum is about 900K per season. Never mind the perks of travel and lifestyle of being on an NBA roster. I said all along that he would make a nice role player off the bench. IMO, now that he's had a chance to showcase his talent, he's got a good shot to stick somewhere.I disagree. Incorrect. As a young player, Roby can be under contract with an NBA team and be assigned to their G League team. Yes, NBA life is easier but Roby would be in no position to have a say in the matter.G leauge is not a better option that riding the bench in the NBA. It's not even close. I realize that Roby can and is under contract from an NBA team. He won the lottery by getting picked and THEN basically getting signed to a late first round contract. The G league is NOT better as you asserted, than the NBA. I konw a guy who was a backup in the NBA. It's not close. From the meal money to the chicks after the games, it's not close. Dallas viewed him as their first round pick since they didn't actually have one. I hoped he would stick there because as much as I don't care for their owner, he's a really good team owner IMO who treats his players great.Incorrect. it might be a stretch that hes beyond a good teams bench, but we'll see.I disagree. Roby would be playing G League if he was traded since that would be a better option than riding the bench. I was responding to someone who hoped that Roby would be traded to a good team. I disagreed with that thought because if Roby was traded to a good team he would be most certainly assigned to the G League because from the team's perspective it's better to play and practice with the G League team than to ride the bench in the NBA and go through the NBA's relatively light NBA in season practice regimen.I realize that Roby can and is under contract from an NBA team. well he got that first contract so there is that. Getting to show what he can do against an NBA team is going to take him further IMO than any stats he put up in the G league. From a player's perspective, the NBA is better if you more care about the things that you've already stated and believe me, that is the case for a lot of guys. But some fringe guys actually don't mind going to the G League because they can rack up killer stats and know that NBA and Euro scouts are watching. They want that 2nd contract.
IF I'm a coach or an NBA GM, I want Roby on my team but I guess part of that is I know enough about him to know his character that goes with his talent. The key for him IMO is to be able to consistently knock down perimeter shots. IF he can do that, he's got the whole package. I wish he was a little thicker to hold his own in the paint better.it might be a stretch that hes beyond a good teams bench, but we'll see.
if he gets paid, then its worth it to Isaiah.
presti is trying to get as much value in what he has for more picks, so he could see the floor a lot more.
No doubt. As a fringe player, Roby is in a great spot in OKC. The challenge for Roby will be what is coming up behind him. OKC will be bringing in a lot of new talent in the coming years. For Roby, the time to prove himself is now.well he got that first contract so there is that. Getting to show what he can do against an NBA team is going to take him further IMO than any stats he put up in the G league. Thanks for the clarification.
That team had some talent, but not a lot of depth IIRC and started to fall apart and then Copeland's injury finished them. I really had hope for some of Miles teams, but they all were alike. No big men and no real shooters. Just a team full of slashers.Happy for Isaiah. The other thought when I read this is even with NBA talent in Roby, Palmer, and others like Watson and Copeland, NU could somehow not find a way to be better than 2nd to last in the BG10 in 2018

I think Watson is out of basketball. Palmer and Copeland are in the G league and I haven't heard much about them. As talented as those guys were, we didn't have enough talent in the 8 deep rotation to do much in a league like the B1G.Happy for Isaiah. Banton can be a slasher if he just figures out how to finish stronger. He gets to the rim great, then finishes like he's 5'9" instead of 6'9".i would take 1 slasher on this year’s team. That aspect is hurting us badly so far.
