Evaluate everything. That means the new AD needs to hold Fitz accountable. The first half of the schedule next year is very manageable. Indiana might be worse than us this year which is saying something.

This can’t happen every other year as it’s not sustainable as far as recruiting goes.

Time for Fitz to put on the big boy pants and earn his salary.

Don’t worry. It won’t be every other year anymore.

If that’s the case then Fitz will be fired. Way too much invested in this program for it to fail like that.
I give Fitz a long leash til around '24 or '25, but if it is this bad next season, '23 tops. You will have over $400 million invested into the football program once the stadium renovations are done, plus the fact Fitzgerald is the third highest paid HC in the conference. People need to quit covering for Fitz. He is being handsomely paid, but not producing squat.

I don't think he should get that long. If we have another horrendous year next year oh, they should seriously consider either dumping him or dramatically reducing his salary like they did with frost and force coaching changes

Depends on next year. If he somehow makes a bowl, I can give him a bit of space. There is too much $$$$$ invested in not only the program, but in him as well, to have the **** show we have experienced this season.

I'm thinking this is going to take more than one season to shake off. Obviously the transfer portal is a game changer and Fitz surprises for the better more often than not...6-6 seems achievable next season but I'm not seeing a Jan 1 bowl coming back to us in a year...more than anything I just hope this isn't a perfect storm with new coordinators, new AD, tensions rise on who's calling the shots, etc.

Which is exactly what he did in 2020. I hate to repeat myself but this thread is just a reminder that NU FANS SUCK BIG TIME!

2023 at the earliest and to be honest I am going back to my prediction of 2025. We have regressed 7 years, back before 2015. It stinks that we need to utilize the portal at all, but the potential defections after the season ends demands it. I have never witnessed such a failure in coaching in my life. Best to worst twice in a row.

Why? Name me any other time in NCAA Div I football where a team went first to last to first and last again. I understand graduation losses, etc, can change a team, but this is unprecedented. And I am sorry, this guy is paid way more than my late uncle (Earle Bruce) was at OSU. Pat put himself on the line after the 2018 Holiday Bowl, talking about BIG titles and Nattys. Both Athlon's and Lindy's had us winning 7 and 8 games respectively and we probably are stuck at 3 again. Somebody has dropped the football in Evanston or just lost focus.

Name me an NU coach who has had a more successful ten year run at NU than Pat Fitzgerald? Honestly, I think the average NU fan has no clue what is he is talking about when it comes to football and has lost all historical perspective about the program. Many of you won't truly appreciate Fitz until he is gone. If I were him I would have blown this pop stand a long time ago. You guys do not deserve him as your coach.

Yes, they are derisive about him as a coach. As I have recently posted, no other NU football coach has come close to the tenure and overall success of Fitz. There have been higher highers and lower lows, but when NU needed it, he has proven our most consistent and durable coach. Sixteen years of success, at NU that is unheard of. and If he has reached his peak, so be it, but give him the support and chance to become our Knute Rockne, and someday people will say, Notre Dame, who?

NU fans are the only fanbase I've seen stop a football game because they were pelting the team with food and it was all over the field.

I believe you of course, but hard to believe also - all those damn weenies in the student section couldn't get a tomato across the track if you gave them a rocket launcher.

The Cats should definitely chase that highly effective Nebraska example. They've definitely managed the football program tremendously there over the last thirty years, so definitely makes sense to follow their lead.

Many of these "average NU fans" invest their time and money in buying season tickets and sitting in the stands, win or lose. Do you? Will you be at the game today?

Whether they do or not they have the right to be cynical, irrational, ill informed, unappreciative curmudgeons who lack any perspective just like I believe I have the right to be fed up with all the negative, nonsense that is posted on this board.

It’s really tough to be a fan of a team that didn’t try. I hope they try today.

Don’t bother trying to reason with corbi.

According to him, what we’re seeing is great because it’s complementary football:

Our offense, defense, and special teams are all terrible and thus complementary.

Now, Let’s go get a W over Purdue! Prove me wrong, Cats!
