Flush all 11 games. Goal #1 every year is to KEEP THE HAT.

NU has won six straight. Win another, and the all-time series is tied at 55 wins apiece, with five ties.

Bret Bielema has certainly never coached in a game with such intensity, so let’s see the Cats shock him with enthusiastic effort, dynamic creativity, and the fury that can only from that purest of human feeling: hate.

For the good of humanity, and in honor of the great and irrepressible fans of what is truly a Wildcat Nation, please please please KEEP THE HAT.

I’ve kept my profile pic as is for many years in a row but I’m fairly certain this is the year the hat will come off.

I miss Tim Beckman....he was flat out entertaining and bad....the image of him getting bowled over by an official with a flag to follow was etched into my NU brain.....but I think the official running into Beilima is something I will be looking for.....hope it is not the only wish I get.....In short spurts the Illini look like an NFL team and then a series late like a high school team.....I can see the Beilima pre game speech being something like..." well I guess today will tell me if ya wanna be here next year...."

Take heart ye of little faith.

This game is much more evenly matched than most of us are giving credit.

Illinois is also not going to a bowl game with their having had only one more win than Northwestern so they are not fighting for that.

Illinois got shut out in one of their games, something the Wildcats have not experienced.

For the transitive property adherents, Illinois lost to Rutgers, a team that Northwestern beat handily.

Both teams played Iowa with Illinois losing by two scores, and Northwestern by only one.

Go NU, Go Hat.

Although we have never looked like an NFL team this year, we also have short spurts of actual FBS capability - mostly when one of our Aces makes a play like Tomi, Hull, Robinson, Joseph. But, we also have those high school spurts.

I say make Peters try to beat us. He's like a 9th year senior and has never really done anything special. Certainly not as good as the guys that have carved us up so far. More like the Iowa sub. On (their) defense, they are near the bottom in most categories, with a couple of notable performances (See Ped State and Minn games). Sadly, they are a little like our past defenses, they don't give up a ton of points. I'd hate to see this come down to McCourt vs our FG kicker. Because wow

You left out Nebraska ... can't blame you though.

Two brutal offenses. Got to give Bert credit for his DC hire, that guy did the impossible and made the Bert’s a pretty good defensive team. With all of the Super Seniors they have, they should finally prevail. If they can’t beat us this year, the Hat streak will hit double digits. If we play just decent D, this goes to the team that can score 10 points.

I don't know how much it's been discussed, but the fact that DC Ryan Walters signed with and played for Barnett at Boulder, as well as Walters's father doing the same when Barnett was an assistant there pre-NU, means he was the exact merit-based Barnett-connected hire that Fitz should have made. I guess Hankwitz was a mistake he didn't want to repeat.

A large part of me wants Illinois to win, and do so in convincing fashion. It's what Fitz and the program deserve. Obviously if NU plays much better and wins, it'll be deserved for the day's efforts. But it seems like a lazy student just studying a couple hours before the exam and getting lucky to draw the right questions. The bad habits of this season require a final result that reflects everything that preceeded it. A win would be too convenient.
