Just two seasons ago, NU beat Vandy in the NCAA tournament. Today, NU is next to last in the B1G. But Vandy is 0-11 in the SEC with once hot Bryce Drew coaching the 'Dores.....

How the mighty have fallen.

Yup, we're the worst in the best conference in America right now, but there are many, many teams worse than us...

Is this the official mikewebb line now? NU is the worst in the Big Ten but better than some other schools in some other conferences? Yikes. You are our resident optimist!!!

Real perspective is that it’s a game played among teenagers who happen to go to the same school we did. So it’s all meaningless!
Law, Taylor, Turner, and Pardon ain't teenagers....

When the guy coaching these teenagers is making >$3 Million a year I guess we should expect a little more......not exactly the YMCA league.

I don’t disagree, but it was in the context of college basketball not being really important overall.

This is the 3rd or 4th person in the barage of the last few weeks to point to Collins' salary as some type of significant barometer of how he should be coaching. Let's try to get this story straight.

A compensation package of $3 million+ is nothing unusual in the B10. Eight other coaches make more than $3 million+

Think Archie Miller has a resume for $4 million+? How about Brad Underwood for $3 million+?

My personal favorite is Chris Holtman's $7 million package - $2 million more than the next highest, Izzo.

There no firm number on Collins' salary since it's hidden in all the usual NU BS protections. But let's go with the reported $3 million+. According to the USA Today, it looks like he's getting a hell of a bonus.

It's a pretty reasonable number compared to much of the B10, and very reasonable when you consider the chance for career suicide.

We should teach our fans the “B-1-G” chant.

Sure, Oklahoma beat us in December, but look at the weak opponents beating them now. (I assumed Oklahoma was good, but they’re 3-9 in-conference.)

Crazy right
But I think THAT was a senior-dominated Vandy team.
We had our key guys return the following year and still have some very key guys from that team. And have turned in two soul-sucking years.

As much as this season blows, last season hurt more because we still had a lot of returners from the tournament team. This season still suckz eggs.

Life often goes in cycles and takes unexpected turns. I'm just hoping that an upcycle happens sooner than later, haven't given up on Collins yet. Fitz went through a down cycle post-Persa and now has the football program in a very good place.

Or we could be coached by Bill Carmody.

Few of them have spent so much money on an upgrade though. We need to be better.
Maybe because they didn't need too. Likely every conference school as good if not better facilities then NU and there still is no practice facility of note.

Sure it is the going rate in the Big 10 but it points to the fact that you need to get results in the Big 10 if you are going to play and get paid like the Big Boys. Coach CC is not and has not been a good X and O coach period. Great enthusiastic face of the program yes, game coach abolutely not.

Ok which ones? I got Minnesota at home as a sure W, all the road games are probably losses. Wisconsin and Purdue at home are L's that leave Ohio State at home as a maybe #2 win. Either way this team is toast and will have another losing record which no matter how you slice it should not be the case for the 2nd year in a row, there is too much talent to be below .500 overall.

2/16/2019 Nebraska Lincoln, Neb.
2/20/2019 Ohio State Columbus, Ohio
2/23/2019 Wisconsin Evanston, Ill.
2/28/2019 Minnesota Evanston, Ill.
3/3/2019 Illinois Champaign, Ill.
3/6/2019 Ohio State Evanston, Ill.
3/9/2019 Purdue Evanston, Ill. .

It doesn't even matter. There are 7 games left and this team could go 2-5 or 1-6 or 0-7 or even 3-4.

I love the time of the year when we all argue about just what degree of bad the team is.
