It is going to be a VERY bumpy ride in CFB

Last year, seven P4 head coaching jobs changed hands. None due to in-season terminations, and only 3 or 4 (depending on how you want to count) due to coaches being fired:

1) Mack Brown was fired at end of season by UNC
2) WVU fired their coach - Brown - at end of season
3) Purdue fired their coach at end of season
4) Stanford fired their coach in March, well after the season ended, due to some "personnel/behavior" issues
5) Gus Malzahn resigned at end of season from UCF, to take OC job at FSU
6) Wake Forest coach Clawson resigned after season, cited the "F'ed up" new world of CFB (NIL, etc)
7) Washington State coach left to take the job at Wake Forest... so a 2-1 change scenario

This year?

Already SIX power 4 coaches terminated - before mid-season! We haven't even gotten close to normal "coach termination season".
Certainly more on the way before the holidays..... not to mention each opening means a decent chance that a new coach will be poached from another power 4 team (like the WSU coach moving to WF last year)- creating a cascade of changes.

It is going to be CRAZY out there.

I expect Napier from UF to be dumped soon to add to the craziness
If he loses to Miss State at home this week he gone. There is no way he is back next year. They will have a losing record this year.

Does Franklin get offered there? I don't think so. I think he is damaged goods to the programs that realistically aspire to NCs.

Think Penn State, intentionally or not, is well positioned to make moves as the first 'big time' program to fire it's HC. Gives them a head start on talking to agents, etc. I suspect Florida will open up, maybe Florida State, UNC, and Arkansas in addition to VT, Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Stanford. Gets really interesting if LSU opens up.

My guess is that the guy(s) PSU is going to be targeting are fairly "independent" of other openings (ie, "their guy" will be either "I'm interested in the PSU job, or not interested in any new job")
Time will tell on that, of course.

But, for sure, there will be many openings that would be more than willing to consider/hire F(ormer)HCJF. Which is a positive development for PSU.

almost every day here in Madison article in paper about size of buy out and process etc. I fully figure Fickell o get shown the door after last game, there is literally no upside in firing him now. His buy out goes down $17,000 every game he coaches so if they gunna lose anyhow might as well bleed out the buy out a little. They are very likely losing every game from her out regardless of whop coaching, new coach, interim coach Nick Saban, Fickell so might as well recoup some of the buy out along the way.
