the dumbass. I bet Huggs would like to wring his neck. Is it true that he'll only be out for 3 games?

Time for Brandon Watkins to step up.
I think that Esa comes back (and starts) and Nathan Adrian takes Holton's place in the press. Holton's absence will hurt but not to the point of making any of his missed games unwinable.

I wonder if it's the University mandating the testing for pot or the NCAA? Shame he got busted on it.
There was a multi-page thread on it yesterday on the Blue Lot and I think it was said that the B12 and Big 10 are the only conferences that test beyond the minimum.

I agree that we can still win without him. But it will be harder. He's a great garbage man. He seems to have a knack for getting offensive rebounds and finishing near the basket. He's the best we have at that. But, the team knows they have a harder row to hoe so maybe they will step it up in the motivation department.

Seems like the games we've lost are games where he's not had his best game. I think his absence could cost us a couple games.

If we lose the games that he misses, I personally can not make the claim he would have made the difference. Yes, he is very important to the team and the style that is played and he will be missed, but this team has significant depth. Other players need to step up. Furthermore, every game on the schedule is a potential loss if we don't play our best regardless who is in the lineup. There are no gimme's.

Totally agree and he was playing his best ball of the season of late so I really hate that he's out. Nate Adrian had his best game last game so he needs to keep it up and Teyvon Myers played a little better and needs to build on that. I think (and hope) that everyone will step it up a little to overcome Holton's loss. I think we still win at Florida but we'll be greatly challenged at Iowa St. and back home with Baylor before Holton returns.

You are spot on, he is very good around the basket. Nate will never be able to do what Holton does around the hoop. Holton also does a very good job on the inbounds passer when we press off a score.

Given the fact this is viewed largely as a guard-oriented team......at least aside the publicity Williams has gotten......Holton is definitely this team's unsung hero thus far in 2015/16.

Anyone who thinks (or is trying to convince himself) he won't be missed is being unrealistic; there's not another player on the squad that can come even close to recreating what he delivers, Still, rules are rules, and they don't (or can't) eliminate dumbness.

So, he justifiably sits......accepts the personal ramifications of the team's results while he's sitting out......and he/we move on from there.

I feel bad for his mom who hasn't seen him play in person this year. Said she has had to work. There was a fairly large group coming up for the game and now he's not playing.

Florida loss......worst game of the year easily. I'm not blaming it on Holton not being in the lineup. Not a single player played with energy or passion. We deserve the loss.

We didnt play well but we havent played well since the Kansas win.

I think the biggest thing today is that Florida played out of their mind. Their coach even admitted as much in the post game PC.

Florida was 6 for 10 from 3 at one point. That's insane and you're almost always going to be down to a team shooting like that. IMHO we were soft out of the gate and the whistles in the first half were all over the map.

They were 12-20 for the game from 3. They are a bad shooting team so I doubt we expected that.

If we don't start getting better play from our starting guards, we may struggle to win 3-4 more games before March Madness. Tarik and Jaysean have been great off the bench, but the starting guards haven't. They have to pick it up.
