This was inevitable. TTU rattled their sabers, but there was just too much against them. Not one single program or coach came out in their defense. I can't recall the last issue that united the entire college football world (save TTU, of course).

I suppose it was worth a shot on their part to see if the news cycle would move on people would forget about it like most other things, but it only kept picking up steam.

Yep. I'd imagine TTU is out at least a few hundred thousand in NIL money + no starting QB.

I'm kind of surprised they wouldn't look for legal grounds to claw that money back, assuming they signed him without knowing about his previous gambling issues. If he signed an NIL deal while concealing potential eligibility issues, that seems a pretty easy case for them to make. At least as it involves Big 12 teams, I won't pretend that they weren't at all motivated by gaining a competitive advantage by knocking out TTU's starting QB.

TTU is predicted to win the Big 12 after making the CFP last year. The rest of the conference wasn't going to need much more motivation to knocking out TTU. Particularly BYU. BYU lost only 2 games last year. One to TTU in the regular season, and the other in the BCCG. The last loss cost them the chance to make the CFP.
BYU already has plenty of motivation.

Not so much for the league office. The Big 12 commissioner was adamantly opposed to Sorsby playing. and the legal complaint filed by Big 12 was deemed "devastating". Sorsby met with TTU on Sunday to affirm his position. The Big 12 filed a complaint late Sunday night/early Monday morning. By Monday afternoon, Sorsby is out. TTU is/was the Big 12's best shot in the CFP, and the league likely knocked them out of contention.

It's crazy (no pun intended) how some are painting Sorsby as being victimized by this, as if he's being robbed of getting the necessary "mental health" help he needs. Playing football and seeing a shrink have nothing to do with each other.

And we need to quit labeling everything as mental health. Sorsby just likes to gamble. Call it what it is. Slap the "mental health" label on it and he's suddenly not responsible for his actions. It's a societal problem "Oh, you only stab people in the neck because you're insane? By all means, you should walk free!"

It's interesting. Some were projecting that Sorsby would be a 1st round pick next year, so someone could steal if he's actually that good.

I read that Terrelle Pryor in 2011 is the only QB taken in the supplemental draft since 1992.

If a team thinks he can help them win, they'll draft him. Going in the supplemental draft, he'll be dirt cheap. I don't know, but I would guess they would put up significant guardrails about his gambling.

You can't suborn gambling in competitive sports by the participants. You just can't do it.
