Like Indiana, the Ole Miss players are on a mission. They want to rub this in Kiffen's face. Good coaching for sure, but these players are motivated and playing with a chip on their shoulder. Easiest team to coach is a very self-motivated team. It's Impressive that Kiffin left behind a coaching staff at Ole Miss that
was good enough to beat Georgia.
Pretty much all the offensive staff got hired away by LSU and are expected to report now with the portal open. They're in a conundrum because they want to still coach their old players. Look for Kiffin to demand they leave Ole Miss immediately before the next playoff game.

Or win?Im also really curious how many Ole Miss players bolt for LSU the minute they lose.
I think he's getting huge payouts if they win... I wouldn't be so fast to think he demands anything from them. Huge payout yeah. But what he wont have is a National Title. lolI think he's getting huge payouts if they win... I wouldn't be so fast to think he demands anything from them. Probably hoping they win
Seriously though ... Let's be honest. Ole Miss wasn't sniffing a playoff game without Kiffin coaching there for most of the last decade. It was his team, with his coaches, his players, and his scheme.... You can't see Ole Miss win and somehow exclude Kiffin from being a part of it. I understand he won't have a ring, but he's a huge part of their playoff run whether they like it or not.Huge payout yeah. But what he wont have is a National Title. lol
Possibly. Story below says 3 of the 4 Ole Miss coaches leaving for LSU didn't fly back with team to Oxford after Sugar Bowl win.I think he's getting huge payouts if they win... I wouldn't be so fast to think he demands anything from them. Probably hoping they win
He didn't make the rules but he continues to show he doesn't give a rats *** about anyone but himself.Seriously though ... Let's be honest. He didn't make the stupid rules... It's the fault of the spineless NCAA imo.... No one wanted it to turn out like this.
What was he supposed to do? Stay at Ole Miss? Decisions had to be made due to recruiting. He didn't make the rules but he continues to show he doesn't give a rats *** about anyone but himself.

Any man with integrity wouldn't have taken that job until the season ended. If it cost him the job and/or some transfers, so be it.What was he supposed to do? Stay at Ole Miss? Decisions had to be made due to recruiting.
I feel certain that when the offer came from LSU, they set a deadline for him to decide or the offer was off the table. I get it ,LSU wasn't going to wait around till who knows how long, and miss out on portal/recruiting deadlines.Any man with integrity wouldn't have taken that job until the season ended. If it cost him the job and/or some transfers, so be it.
I dont disagree. What I am saying and my point is he wont have a ring... or any other hardware for that matter to put on the shelf. I'm sure he can feel good as if he won something, but he didn't. The timing of walking away from it means there will always be an empty spot on that shelf. Had he waited a few weeks? Maybe he wins a National Title and still moves on... but he didn't. lolSeriously though ... Let's be honest. If someone offers you 90m+ and gives you a deadline, are you telling me you wouldn’t take it. If anyone should be to blame it is the NCAA for the recruiting periods they have set.Any man with integrity wouldn't have taken that job until the season ended. If it cost him the job and/or some transfers, so be it.
I doubt LSU was going to wait.I dont disagree. What I am saying and my point is he wont have a ring... or any other hardware for that matter to put on the shelf. I 100% agree with you that there was a deadline. I have coached for years and had various opportunities throughout my career. There is no way in hell I am going to talk to another school until the season ends.I feel certain that when the offer came from LSU, they set a deadline for him to decide or the offer was off the table. If he were going from DII to LSU, maybe a little tougher decision. Ole Miss to LSU, LSU is going to need to wait, or move along.
Or he simply could have made the decision to finish what he started and talk to LSU when the season ended. Instead, you are justifying him leaving mid-season because the rules allow him to do so?I would agree, if the FBS football calendar wasn't set up with the playoffs and the portal overlapping.
Had he stayed at Ole Miss, he is putting his first season at LSU in serious jeopardy. Move the portal window to after the title game, and this is a moot point.

Thing is he had already gone past Ole Miss's deadline and nothing happened. We will never know how it would have played out if he kept stringing them along or told them to wait... because based on their actions up to that point, they may have backed down.Kiffin stated that Ol Miss players wanted him to stay until after the CFP’s (later refuted by key players). His assertion plus news reports that LSU was willing to wait until after the CFP would seem to indicate he could have stayed on IF Ol Miss allowed it. From all reports, they would not, which in my opinion was understandable.
If Kiffin had told LSU that he was staying to finish out the year LSU would have waited. Kiffin was their man for the future, missing out on a few weeks would not have mattered long term. It's Impressive that Kiffin left behind a coaching staff at Ole Miss that

So you're basically saying you would never take another job then? Nobody is going to wait for a coach when there's only one transfer window and it opened January 2nd.I 100% agree with you that there was a deadline. And he planned to stay, Ole Miss wouldn't let him.If Kiffin had told LSU that he was staying to finish out the year LSU would have waited. Kiffin was their man for the future, missing out on a few weeks would not have mattered long term.
There is no way in hell i'm leaving my playoff team before the season ends. Again, it comes down to integrity and it's something Kiffen lacks. So you're basically saying you would never take another job then? Nobody is going to wait for a coach when there's only one transfer window and it

How many times has Kiffen made the playoffs in his career? For coaches who make the playoffs, that means they can never take another job.
I get the integrity angle, and dont completely disagree. Im just saying that , with playoff expansion, there are going to be smaller and smaller schools that lose their coaches during that run.
The portal and playoff windows aren't aligned to make for a good solution.
How many times has Kiffen made the playoffs in his career?
His career certainly suggests he would have many chances to jump ship in a non-playoff year. We are not talking Nick Saban here.
You didn't answer my question??Well, we've been at 12 for only two years, and he's done it once out of the two. Now throw in when that moves to 16 teams? Assuming it does, or course.
You didn't answer my question??
But couldn't Kiffin have agreed to terms and asked that it be publicized after the Rebels' season concluded?I feel certain that when the offer came from LSU, they set a deadline for him to decide or the offer was off the table. Nice try. You answered your own question, not the one I asked.I said he made once out of the two sinxe we went to 12 teams.
Unless you want to judge him on making a 4 team, or 2 team playoff? Because there wont be any more of those going forward.
I get that you want point to him not making the playoffs for many years prior, but those circumstances are gone with the expanded playoffs.
Nice try. You answered your own question, not the one I asked.
