Seeing too many threads on here about who Cal is bringing in.... we've been there done that.

Without a potential NBA lockout and a generational player in Anthony Davis... UK would still have 7 titles.

I know I'm contradicting the thread just a tiny bit but yes NIL money will bring in the talent. But I'll take a good X and O coach over just a glorified recruiter any day in 2024.

Eh… these days, for better or for worse, it’s both.

Sounds like Coach Pope will have sufficient NIL funds to get players he wants. Now comes the trick of assembling a cohesive roster and coaching it to be competitive at the highest level. We shall see what happens.

Still a lot of recruiting left, but I think it's possible coach Pope may need next season on the big stage to show what he can do before he draws interest from the really big name recruits. I just don't think he's known well enough....YET.

IMO he might have to overpay to get a few of these upper portal prospects!

It's too late in the process really to get good freshman recruits. But I still think he has plenty of chances to draw attention from transfers.

Money and playing time is huge motivator for recruits needing a new home.

I mean I still think he will put together a good roster. I'm not worried. But players like McNeeley might be hard to sway, especially this late in the process.
