I still cannot believe our former quarterback was so inept Frost called multiple QB draws with him in a green jersey on 3rd downs in the f'ing spring game
how any of us had any hope after seeing that is a true testament to the strength of kool-aid
that said, I can't wait for the game & think Thompson is going to look like Dan Marino compared to what we've gotten used to watching in the passing game

Should make some good competition and trash talk though. Sounds like things have been pretty testy all spring.
Yes, but for whatever reason, they didn't want to pull that trigger. We will see a lot of ones and twos in the first half, with key starters sitting most or perhaps all of the second half, and more walkons in the fourth quarter. They could have split the ones and twos (1 off/2 def vs. 2 off/1def) and sprinkled the rest of the kids onto the those teams. But it is still a practice and they will be using film to evaluate. So they are probably interested in keeping some position groups together.
More good on good IMO is more meaningful than the mish mash we've seen in the past. I like it.
Easy you put the 1 offense and 2 defense on the reds and the 1 defense and 2 offense on the white and the rest divide up by picks and have captions and assistant coaches draft them accordingly…
And play a real game with no returns of punts 2 hours is a joke too.. Just 2 hour window for BTN..

The reality is that is what the Spring game always boils down to when a team plays against itself.
Offense vs. Defense? Isn't that the Spring Game or literally any other football game ever played in Lincoln since football was invented? If it means the 1's verses the 1's, lets do this. Do a full scrimmage and see who can whip who. I harken back to the glory days of the 90's and remember stories of the Fiesta Bowl prep verses Florida where Lawrence Phillips was doing the dirty work blocking guys and killing linebackers on plays he wasn't involved. Fidone sucks if he gets hurt in practice, but it also REALLY sucks if we have starters that are afraid of contact. We had a stud cornerback a couple years ago that didn't learn how to tackle until Frost showed up. That may be his greatest accomplishment so far. It certainly hasn't been gameday victories or QB development.
Yes. Its a red team vs a white team. Offense vs. defense is a scrimmage not a spring game. The defense is all on one sideline, the offense on the other.
Now what they aren't telling you is if they are going to do any live reps with special teams. Of course, since our special teams is such a proven, embarrassment-free unit in Frost's tenure, why would they? The other question I have is how much tackle football will be played? Will it be limited to 4th string vs. 4th string? Last year much (or all) of the top unit play was two hand touch if I recall.
To me, a 3 win football team needs to play live, tackle football and toss the excuses for avoiding it out the window.
The Spring Game is taking half of the offensive players and half of the defense and putting them on the white team. The others are on the red team. You play tackle football for 4 quarters and keep score.
Honestly, it's not Team A vs. Team B or Offense vs. Defense. Not really much practical difference between those two approaches IMO. The important difference that does matter is tag football in the first half vs. tackling in the second half.
