Will it still be JCF once it's artificial turf and not real grass anymore? I mean how can plastic be a "field", you know, the stuff cows eat?

I'm not a fan of turf! I would like to see a little shake up for the graphics on the field maybe old school wildcats written in the end zone

I would definitely like to see interesting designs on the new field. Specifically sideline coloring, number coloring and styles, midfield logo, and endzone.
I think you can do more with turf because certain paints can't harm it like it does with grass.

I say go all out with the field:

- Blue end zones with Kentucky in one and Wildcats in the other. Then have a slightly different shade of blue background of a wildcat head like what is on the back of the basketball jerseys.

- A giant UK logo on mid field or a giant Wildcat head like we used to have.

-Arizona has "Bear Down" going down the middle of their field that is 80 yards long and just a slightly different shade of green to make it noticeable. Why not put "Go Big Blue" on ours? Or some other catchy phrase. Or maybe just go with cat scratches all over the field.

Nothing wrong with the traditional look we have had with the grass turf. But I say to keep with the changes, go all out with an out of the park turf design.

- Blue end zones with Kentucky and Wildcats
- Blue and white on each side on the out of bounds near the end zone which you see a lot of others doing.
- Put smaller UK branded logos on each side of the field
- Come up with a brand new and awesome cat scratch claw graphic in the middle of the field (sort of like the Tigers Eye LSU has).

Be cool if instead of shooting fireworks in the end zone corners like they have in the past which creates all kinds of smoke issues for tv and all and install a system that shoots them all around the upper stadium like you see a lot of newer stadiums have now.

- For the endzone, I would actually like to see the entire design that is on the back of the UK basketball jerseys stenciled in a blue endzone (Thin black stenciling with the wildcat heads, vines, roses, memorial hall, with checkers at the top, minus the numbers for the Natty titles, as they don't apply to football) and draw that out horizontally across the endzone. Or, same thing, remove Memorial Hall, and draw it vertically so that it fits proportionately in the endzone. Just put "Kentucky" in white letting across the top, with a gray outline (like the numbers on the back of the basketball jerseys.

- Giant UK logo in mid-field, blue with white outline.

- On the 35 yard line, instead of the "X" where you place the kicking tee on kickoff, but a small white cat scratch design (3 diagonal scratches, center scratch being the largest. I would think we've all been scratched by a cat before though).

- Blue sidelines with white outline, completely white sidelines in the endzones (being that the endzones are blue)

- White numbers with blue outlines on the field.

- Medium width blue stripe down the middle of the 35 yard lines. (all hash marks and lines on the field are white, but give these a blue touch. Possibly add this to the 50 yard line, but cut the blue stripes off around 3 yards away from the center field logo, on both sides of the logo)

- Blue SEC logo, white lettering, gray letter outline, black SEC logo outline.

Overall, I think these things would make the field look remarkable, just my opinion though, not sure how many of you would feel about it.

I have hopes that a construction worker "accidentally" tears down Newton's name and destroys it. Then we can replace it with a proper name (or names if we want to put both Claiborne and Brooks on it.

I have a legitimate question that I am sure almost all of you know.

I am a younger (25) UK football fan. I didn't start getting into the football program until Rich Brooks last year, but have always been a Kentucky fan. Nowadays though I only find myself looking at football board, as in general I am more of a Football fan than basketball (I still love the hoops) and now I am deeply involved in how football program is going and even bought season tickets last two years.

So my question is this. What is it that UK fans dislike about C.M. Newton? And it is just football fans? I knew CMN3 (his grand son) and had a chance to meet CM Newton and he was a very nice guy and happened to be from my fraternity as well. Just hoping to get a better understanding of the dislike, I am assuming he may have no devoted any energy to football?

Basically, UK football fans wouldn't discuss CM a whole lot in terms of football had his replacement at AD (Larry Ivy) hadn't decided to inexplicably name the football field at CWS after him. It really made NO sense whatsoever and still doesn't make sense.

CM helped save our basketball program, but most view him as being a non-descript AD for every other sport.

Lastly, several view CM as being partly responsible for the negligence that allowed Claude Bassett to help get UK on probation.

they should install led light chasers on the sideline to follow Boom as he's busting a run down the field.

I didn't really detest CM, but I don't like the idea of having a bball guy as AD. bball at ky will always take care of itself without having a bball AD.

I'm for naming the field after coach Brooks. I've had season tickets since the first Claibourne year. Good man, but he didn't do nearly as much for Ky Football as Brooks.

+1 AMEN AMEN AMEN

Love the BB Team, and certainly respect and appreciate what CM did, but for all that is as common senses as it can be, name the field for Bryant or Claiborne!

I've been stating for a long time that it needs to be changed to Jerry Claiborne Field.

My Badge says I've here for 12 months...I think 12 years is closer to it. I used to bounce back and forth between here and Wildcatfaithful.com. Whatever happened to the old thread anyway?
