We've still got a long way to go, but the team showed me something in that 2nd half. Dioubate was playing with tremendous heart and strength- his double double made the difference in that 2nd half. Lowe showed he could lead, run the offense, and finish. Garrison was playing better than I've seen him play, giving 100% from what I saw. The team won without a great game from Oweh, who was good at times, but not during that key stretch. They also showed me they could win a poor shooting game with defense and rebounding. That is what I expected this team to do well, but they haven't shown it against a good team, until that 2nd half tonight. That's their formula for consistency.

That was potentially a season saving win. If they can get Quaintance back and he can have a good impact, the team can win some games. They just have to be determined to play the way they played tonight in that 2nd half to start every game.

Great win! I don't even want to imagine how things would have gone if they had lost this game. It would have been BAD, really bad.

This game was basically a mirror image of the UNC game, except that we had Mo Dioubate. He was literally the difference.

I don’t know where our offense goes from here. I still can’t fathom how our ball movement looked so good against Purdue, and so God-awful ever since. But, defense and rebounding will keep you in games… especially 3-point defense. We also only had 4 turnovers tonight to their 18. IU is one of the least athletic teams we’ll play the rest of the year though. Still, I’m encouraged by our resolve in the second half. They were punking us early and it was looking like the same old crap. Nice to see some fight and heart out of the Cats. Lets hope for more of the same next Saturday.

Have you complained? Or your evil twin impersonating u?

Idk who is who anymore.
That was me. I know it's out of character for me to be so negative. So, you're not crazy. It's just been an awful start to this season with little sign for hope, until tonight. I don't think Indiana is a great team, but they're a good team. Honestly, I think Indiana is better than UNC, which beat us in Rupp. I was expecting a loss tonight, so this was a big step forward.

Is this a new name for you? Someone is posting as IL_Wildcat, was that you, or did someone steal your old name?

Yea I’ll eat crow but Popes not off the hook yet. I enjoyed watching that second half.
Nobody should be eating crow, we are still not a good team. We toughed one out at home against an unranked team, but we were extremely bad in the first half and we still have big problems on offense.
I'm ecstatic about the win, but we still have big problems.

Purdue wasn’t playing anywhere close to 100 percent in the preseason scrimmage and on top of that they aren’t that good. I say we are still better than them in a real game.

Yep. This team's recipe for success hinges on effort and defense. The defense they showed tonight could have absolutely been possible against those other Q1s.

I hope we stop going for "shooting" line-ups and just put in the guys who can out-hustle, out-rebound, and otherwise out-scrap other teams. Eventually you can break an opponent's will by stealing second chance opportunities, forcing jump balls, getting players into foul trouble, and mucking up teams that go tempo.

It won't be pretty to watch all of the time, but this is what the team needs to do. I think Pope sees it now. We took pretty much only good looks tonight from 3, unlike in all other games where jacking them up was the norm.

Perhaps a corner has been turned. We will see.

Yeah, that's me. When we switched over to On3, I logged in under a different email as IL_Wildcat but this last week I realized I could keep my original start date, which was back in 2003, and also keep my post history. So, I'm trying to combine IL_Wildcat and revcort. Both are me, though.

Your situation sounds exactly like mine. I think I’ll just give up on my old name too. I have no idea about my start date and full history. It’s kinda complicated

I saw heart, effort and spirit from our players tonight. That means a great deal to me. I don't know how this season is going to end up, but as long as the players give effort and do their best, I won't say a negative word about any of them.

Yes! If they would have played like the second half all year we all would feel much better and we would be sitting here with only 2 losses and no blowouts, at least not by 40.

Encouraging that they're showing this at all, discouraging that it took such desperation to reach for it.

Now that this level of play has been found...Pope has ZERO excuse for not tapping into it it on a more regular basis.

******* DEMAND it of the team. You know, like a top-level coach does?

Same here. I used to be Redbone Blue, but I just haven’t taken the time to recoup the history. May not even be possible now.

Let’s not get carried away. It was nice to beat a non cupcake. And, the defense really got after it in the second half. However, the offense still seems disjointed. Not sure if beating an average IU team at Rupp, will end up being a quality win, because this Hoosier team probably won’t finish 500 in the Big Ten, but, it sure beats losing to them.

dude....it IS a quality win. Before them, who'd we beat? Valpo? Not saying it turns the whole season around but it was a much needed win. Just enjoy the ride

Even though IU wasn't ranked it was still a must win. I honestly didn't think we would pull it off but we did. I just hope they build off of it and continue to get better. We have another test this Saturday so hopefully we can get that W too.

Indiana isnt a great basketball team and they couldnt hit anything. Id like to see their percentage on wide open threes that game it had to be very low.

The real thing Sat showed was how little effort they had been giving up until the second half.

So good on them for one half of effort on the season.

If it continues then we can be above 500.
