They have not change the song playlist during the game it years it seems. It's to the point when it goes to time out I get pretty good at predicting the song to be played.

Is Miley's "Party in the USA" really relevant?

Unless I missed it the Proclaimer's "500 Miles" is usually a given.

Don't get me started on that Neil Diamond tune.................

I think our Gameday is tired and stale.

These are way to imaginative for PSU to do something like this.

Well, the standard is the standard…… (Apologies to Yinzers for the temporary chest pain. ;)). Even teams like Arkansas are involved.

Here’s just the the SEC schools-

The announcer pregame and postgame sounds like a boardwalk barker. There no room for spontaneous cheering.
And for all you old timers like me, Class of ‘69, they don’t take cash at the concessions. I remember in 7th grade hearing about a cashless society in the future and saying “no way”.

ARE. YOU. READY. TO. ROCK. ANNNNND. ROLLLLLLLLL. o_O ?
That has been a stale and uninspiring entrance song for 20 years. Time to send it behind the barn, along with the mic man cheerleader.

I haven't read anything about planning lighting upgrades as part of the stadium reno, but wouldn't be at all surprised to see that we get some of these fancy LED lights starting next season.

Music tastes vary widely from region and generation. If Bro Country took over the playlist, you'd be begging for Hey Baby.

Another thing about Hey Baby - it was a #1 record in 1961. You'd have to be in your late 80's to remember this. A lot of us were blessed to grow up in the 70's where music was everywhere. We certainly didn't need Hey Baby.

It isn't us that loves the song - don't get me started on the other song written about a 14 year old girl - it's the students. They are at the age where they can say "Hey Baby, Won't you be my girl" and it works. It fits. We aren't, and it doesn't - for the most part.

Texas blues legend Delbert McClinton plays harmonica on the original....and John Lennon was so inspired he had Delbert teach how to play harmonica.

Being in the other end I don't hear the "mic man" during the games but when I was a student in the early 80's the mic man was always on the mic pumping up the student section. Some of this schtick got pretty "borderline" and if I recall he had to tone it down.

I could also request bringing back those "whale pants" JoePa wore.....

Remember how the millions and millions of dollars spent on the "ribbon scoreboards" were to "enhance the fan experience"? Including the most recent spend of millions and millions more for MORE screens to enhance "fan experience"?

LOL

Nothing but continuous advertisements (which, I think, is what we all knew they were ever going to be. C'mon, fans aren't that naive.) Fans bankroll millions of dollars for platforms wherein they can sell advertising revenue blasted at the fans all day long. Which, I guess, is fine, if people are willing to put up with it..... but why do they feel compelled to lie to the fans so consistently? Do they think the fans actually believe them? "Fan Experience" LMAO.

But seriously, wouldn't it be nice if they at least occasionally used them to update scores - especially since wifi is nonexistent? And did we all notice that the tiny (TINY) spot in the corner that is supposed to "update" scores was screen locked showing scores of games that had been completed - like OSU-Texas - as still being 0 to 0 - all afternoon. Who the heck runs that show?

I would pay money to never again hear that obnoxious Lion King remix or the intro to Crazy Train.
They need a refresh to their game day. The music is ehhh and everyone is doing it. The Lion King was cool for 10 years but lets move on.
There were some things they did in the 00's that could be brought back. The Emerson Lake and Palmer Karn Evil #9 first impression was and is better than the current opening.
Carmina Burrana was very popular and I haven't heard that in a long time.
The drum part of Maryln Mansons Beautiful People was always awesome.
Burning Down the House is another.

#1 - Get that stinking Mo Bamba clip purged immediately. NEVER should have been made part of the game day. Period. And it plays incessantly.

Jamey "the mic man" is now an assistant dean in the College of Communications. And he throws a great tailgate each week and still leads a cheer (and community shot) every hour on the hour on game day.

Once the mic man, always the mic man. Great stuff.

It's used by fan bases in soccer here in the US. "Hey (name of player) .... "will you score a goal".

oh, the good old days

When All you heard between plays was
"Don't leave today's game without a copy of the Beaver Stadium Pictorial"
and
"Please do not block the isles, walkways, and portals."

I don't care what they play. Please just turn it down a little bit especially pre-game. With speakers on the sidelines and speakers in the end zone and the sound from each arriving in your ears at slightly different times at a volume that can wake the dead in China it's just brutal.

Maybe it's old fashioned but I'm there for the game. The game, you know, that thing they do with a football. I don't feel the need to be entertained beyond that. It's like a minor league baseball game where they think they need to fill every second with something nobody cares about.

The old adage "silence is golden", at least some of the time works for me. How about, "everything in moderation".
