Yes, 6-6 and going to a sh*tty bowl is exactly what we should expect from Stoops' 4th year....

Team plays hard, coaches utilize talent best they can given what they've got at QB and that limits play calling. Defense is really good when not on the field all night. Punter sucks, ST needs work but kicker is good. 4 SEC wins and a bowl. CWS was packed tonight and looked great on nat'l tv. Lost a bummer.

Can't remember a better UK team. Let's fire the coach and start from scratch.

I'll say one thing... some UK fans are loyal to a fault. How people continue to think this season has been a monumental upgrade is beyond me. We have beaten TERRIBLE teams that have been a lot better in the past. Those teams WILL right the ship and we'll still be bad. If we can't beat GA at home this year we'll never beat them.

bowl or not, he has gotta go. Enough is enough.
I disagree. We're playing extremely competitve with a completely ineffective qb. I think he has the best chance of any coach we've had in 40 years of putting a solid defense on the field during a year when we have an electric offense.

Do I think he's a great coach? Not with what he's shown. But he might be about the best we can do.

Why don't you just watch a full Miss St game and re-evaluate that comment? They have a hoss of a player at QB and just beat #4 team in nation.

USC is not a good football...but at least mediocre.

The D being gassed on the last series was what really tipped it. Also agree with the rest, well, except the facetious part.

I absolutely hate when people try to make a loss out to be a positive thing so I'll just say that this wasn't that bad. That's the best I can say following a loss.

The main thing I question at this point is if he cans Eliot. If he has the balls to do that and stick around after a bowl season which should lead to great success (with as few seniors as we have) I look forward to his continued effort. But if he bends over backward to save his buddy when it is obvious that he caused the early season issues, compounded by the fact that his in-game management has been questionable, leads me to wonder where we will be.

I get that we have had awful attrition. It'd be great to have some of the guys on D that we were supposed to have, but the head coach still has a job to do.

Didn't we beat them like 2 out of a 4 year stretch when brooks was here?

The difference in the game was that they hit a 70 yard completion to set up a score and we threw a 70 yard int on an easy pitch and throw. So you are saying that you are judging our coaching staff on the abilities of badet to make a play most high schoolers make? Are you saying stoops is worse than a HS coach?

I'm not saying Stoops is worse than a HS coach at all. All I'm saying is that we beat bad teams that have a history of being better. I'm not bashing UK, I'm just telling the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. Our improvement is inflated but if you feel like this has been a good season then I say you have every right to feel good about it.

One of those "terrible teams" we've beaten is Mississippi State. Wonder how terrible Texas A&M thinks they are; Auburn was life and death to beat Vandy; S. Carolina appears to be going bowling ... you dumbass.

Some people keep acting like the Miss St win was the norm. Come on man. Miss St played great today. I give them credit but they were playing terrible when we beat them and it took a 50 yard field goal on a cold night to get that win. We've been better this year for sure but we've also played really bad teams that historically are much better. Unfortunately we can't ever say we're having a down year. History tells us 99.9 % of our years are bad years.

They went against a team that had more talent at nearly every position. With a back up qb. All 45+ four stars plus 16 five stars along with the number one qb last year. If we play ten times they win eight. But we have closed the talent gap by light years since stoops arrived.

When is the last big game in had played on like this? Those take experience to learn to win those. We return nearly everyone. We will be ok. This done nothing to hurt our program. If anything proved we are getting befter

We played Miss St 2 freaking weeks ago.... you act like we played them first week of season. Miss St has a hoss of a QB and really good coach for my money. To me, they are the best team we've beaten all year.

We were better than MSU that game.

UGA would have gone down by 2 TD's tonight if we were only a little less one dimensional.

(I'm not going to use the turnovers as an excuse, as UGA had plenty of goofs.)

We are definitley looking much better.

I agree MSU, UGA, and USCjr will get better. But as of today they are not.

Can we continue to improve and does CMS and staff have a ceiling?

I thought the effort and toughness was there tonight, no major coaching screw ups and we were not out-manned horribly in the trenches.

I don't try to fight or make enemies on this board. I just say my piece. If you feel good about this team and this season you have every right to feel that way. You seem pretty pumped up but I think we beat teams that are typically much better. If you're good with this team that's totally your right to feel that way. I don't see it the same as you but we can all have our own opinions.

BRIAN- You know I consider you as solid of a poster as anyone on this board. I definitely see improvement but I'm really skeptical of getting too vocal because the teams we've beat are having extremely abnormal years. I don't normally put the cart ahead of the horse but in this case I'll make an exception to see how my thoughts of this season stack up. I think UT will beat us soundly and UL will beat the hell out of us. If we somehow win either of those games I'll be the first one to step up and eat my dose of crow. Are we better this year ? I'd say yes. Are we good with hopes of memorable seasons in the near future ? I say no. But I sure hope I'm wrong.

I just don't see why folks feel good after a loss. I never have felt that way in my life. UK lost. Nothing good about it IMO. WR's should be apologizing to the whole team IMO.
Stoops should have tried the FG after the holding penalty. Gran had a bad night as well. UK was in a chance to do something it may never do again and they failed. No way to spin it IMO.

That is not unreasonable.

I thought UGA would run roughshod over us (they did for 200 yards but it didnt look that bad).

I'm not optimistic about UT either.

I agree we have played bad teams. I agree we have gotten lucky with Vandy, MSU, USCjr and UGA QB's playing awful and those teams having injuries.

The fact is, we have improved, we looked much better tonight.

I really am not worried about this game, or UT, or UL. Just get to the bowl game and use the practice time.

Recruit a good class.

I have said several times that these teams will not stay down, so we must improve.

I am not sold on CMS being a great coach.

But I'm not going to move the goal posts, I said preseason that 6-6 and bowl game was a must for me. And I was very vocal the first 3 games. I brought out the stat that CMS hadnt beaten a winning team other than EKU (regular season).

But he has this year and he met my requirement. I give the guy next year to see if they can improve, if not these other teams will pass us by again.

We have 3 games to continue to grow and get better along with the bowl time, I'm willing to be patient.

I'd rather be pissed about this kind of stuff than total collapses like USM and UF.

Let's not act like UGA didnt have their fair share of screw ups, I thought Mackenzie had money on the game after running away from the 1st down inside the 10 and dropping the punt... not to mention Chubb's 2 fumbles.

I agree 100%. If only other posters would read what I say and not what they 'think' I'm saying. We're better than we were earlier in the season for sure. I most certainly see improvement. But we still have a long way to go and history is NOT on our side.

The difference is, we all know UGA will be better and soon. UK has not shown they can sustain any success. If it were not for having AP on the schedule late, doubtful they make a bowl this year.
Your post is right, but UGA did all that and still won.

Yeah, lets fire that guy.

UGA will get better, and they will pass us. Recruiting base, simple as that.

Doesnt mean we can never beat them in the future.

They had to kick a last second field goal to beat us, a team that couldn't hold NMSU under 500 yards and playing with a backup QB.

We played with them and had them beat, it's ok to be upset, I'm not one for moral victories either, but it was good to see the toughness on defense and rushing for 186.

Stoops and Gran did not coach like they had been lately. Offense and defense were both way too predictable.

We also reverted back to old KY. Self inflicted wounds, turnovers that shouldn't have been (Badett), penalities, missed tackles and predictable coaching that coached cowardly honestly. SJ also played very poorly. Terrible pocket presence and inability to make decisions. All equals losing a game we could've damn we'll won.

I'm pissed and confused. I am absolutely still on the fence. Idk

The people who want Stoops gone will never be happy with UK football unless we magically turn into Alabama. Truth of the matter is UK barely has a .500 all time record and it is going to take years of building to change what has historically been a .500 football program. If you can't see that UK has improved every year since Stoops has been here and is producing good recruiting classes every year then you are blind.

Sure we all want UK football to be what UK basketball is but that doesn't happen overnight especially in football. This program had less then nothing when Stoops took the job and is now heading in the right direction and if anybody wants the program to have any chance of having success in the future then they need to stop making threads like this because all it does is reflect negatively on the program. This isn't the 70's anymore where you talked to the people in your town this is the Information Age and guess what the kids we are recruiting know grew up with the Internet and all know how to use google and I guarantee more then one have found this site and this specific forum. Threads like this make it seem like if UK doesn't go undefeated and win the SEC championship and play in the CFP it is a failure of a season according to the fans and that isn't a place players want to go. If this program is ever going to be a success the fans need to realize seasons like this are what it takes to build a program.

If you are done with Stoops then do us all a favor and go cheer for Alabama because you make the fans who want to see the program succeed look bad. Bear Bryant isn't walking through that door.
