I'm going to be honest. I don't get the clamoring for JO and I say that as someone who JO is probably their favorite OSU wrestler ever.

He’s just finishing up competition on the highest level so:

1. Everyone knows who he is (recruiting)
2. He can challenge anyone in the room (development)

Plus, he’s just a cool cat.

That said, I don’t expect it and there are some good options that make sense.

He hasn't had the most success at the international level. But has beaten Zain Retherford and won two NCAA championships so obviously no slouch. The MMA connection is interesting for sure. He's definitely visible. Suspended for THC which I don't have a problem with personally but could be a thing as far as modeling the best possible behavior for the athletes.

Pretty sure it was Adderall, not THC?

I remember an interview with Jordan Burroughs where he said JO was one of the best technique teachers he’s ever worked with. Couldn’t track the video down, but I think it was from a clinic they were running together.

Who knows if being a full-time coach fits in with his MMA plans but it would be awesome to see him come home.

Not a huge JO fan but I am old school. He is a great wrestling talent but he does not seem to me to mesh well with the rest of the coaching staff. To me its a question of whether he can coach and motivate our wrestlers even though he does have the wrestling talent.

I had heard the same thing. JO, IMO, would be an ideal fit. Assuming it was THC, it could be either DT’s policy or school policy that could stop him from being a coach. Otherwise, he seems to fit the bill as an assistant coach

Willie mentioned a couple shows back that the position at Easton was open and he (JO) may pursue that.
