Kid just earned more minutes going forth. Still a bit raw but the athleticism is apparent. He’s easily our best on-ball defender. He’s a good rebounder. Our strongest player, pound for pound. When he back door cuts to the basket. Look out. His FT stroke is decent, just need more confidence from distance. A difference maker this season.

Agree. ^^ In particular, I thought his defense was the most impressive thing he did last night. THAT alone will get you more playing time with Coach McCollum. All in all, it was a very solid first game for any player to have, let alone a freshman.

Hopefully they fix the humidity issues at Carver.....he is lucky to not come away with an injury with all the slipping, etc. Damn. He is a keeper for sure.
I believe it's part of the renovation project to get air conditioning inside Carver.

True story. It appeared to me he was brought in to take a shot at shutting down Oregon transfer Simpkin's, who was having quite a game at that point. And he definitely slowed him down. I was stunned at the minutes he played, but he earned those as the game went along. Bright future for the kid it appears.

unless he proves he can shoot, better teams will deal with the lobs. That is where my concern for him lies right now.
Now rebounding and defense, it doesn't matter what the other team does.

He was billed as a shooting guard in HS.
He was a good shooter in HS.
He was 6'5' 195lbs last year.
He is now 6'6" 220lbs.
That's 25lbs of muscle in short time.
He may have grown out of guard position.
All that additional muscle might mean it takes awhile to get his 3 pt shooting groove back to normal, but am confident that stroke is there eventually.

He is a better version of what Isaiah Howard brought last year. Loved seeing him in the paint battling it out for boards. Going to be really exciting watching his progress through the year
