Can't judge Pope's recruiting until we see who else he gets in the late period but I have to admit this pickup seems less than impressive. If we want to get back to the days of Final Fours and Championships I think you have to do better than this, hope I'm wrong.
Butler had a 108.0 rating this past year at Kentucky. DRtg is probably not the greatest tool to use.

This dude is a slasher who can get to the paint easily. Exactly the player y'all were clamoring for last year. He shoots 88% from the charity stripe and shot 35% from three the year before last.
Clearly, this year's 27% or whatever it is from 3 is an anomaly that's probably there because he was the only good player on a garbage team and was tasked with too much.
If we actually got this dude, it's an INSANELY good pickup. Him and Otega will get to the rim at will next year.

We needed quickness and ball handling. He is both of those.
I really don’t care as much about his 3 point percentage as I do, “can he finish around the basket”? We need a guard that can get in the paint and find shooters or make layups.

Half our fan base has gone full retard.
Pope got his go-to shot creator that we were lacking this past year. Excellent addition to next year's team. His outside shooting will be better than what was displayed this past year due to him being the lone offensive threat and having to force the offense. Surround him with other shooters and he will thrive in Pope's offense. Like I said, excellent get for Pope.

Honestly, everyone is so focused on the 3 pt % but it's the 2 pt FG% that's a bit more concerning.
I don’t know much about him, but if Pope trusts the kid I do too. I complained about some of the portal additions last year and all of them worked out except maybe one. I trust Pope
The tape seems to refute that, IMO. Highlights, granted, but still.

But like I said Butler led his team to a Final Four and was a defensive player of the year.
Not many of us had heard of Lamont Butler and he turned out to be pretty good. Lowe can get to the basket anytime he wants to and lt looks like he knows what to do with it. If the shots not there he hits the open man. It looks like he’s pretty hard to guard, quick and twitchy, I think he’s a good choice!
