This kid is an absolute stud. I watched a decent amount of Pitt games and he was basically their whole team. Extremely talented and capable....with a good coach and a better system the sky is the limit.
Nah. He mid. We mid. Farr Pope. Farr Stoops. 😂

I kid, of course.

Exactly he was the 5th best PG of the portal I guess a lot of fans are talking themselves into this being a great pickup. We just swung and missed on the others that was above him. I will root for the kid because he’s a Wildcat but going from last year to this year this PG was supposed to be better than Butler and I don’t see it.
lol, 26th pick in mock draft for next year is the backup PG….. delusional

The story was, Calipari went looking for greener pastures when he found out the UK boosters were going to withhold much of the NIL he wanted/ needed, but after watching the past week and a half, it wasn’t a Calipari thing, it was a NIL thing!

Let’s just all get used to this caliber of player being the norm, and we can forget about SEC/ NCAAT championships for the foreseeable future!
Take that negative **** to Arkansas

I think they want a shooter at the 2/3 spot
Could they go after a Dash Daniels, Dame Sarr or some other International big. I could be wrong but I see them looking for some type of big either now or later in the portal. If no big is later in the portal I could see an international big late in the process

Deeper dig into his stats.

- He was improved his 2pt shooting from 40.4% to 43.4%, but still has a ways to go
- his 3pt shooting took a nose dive from 35.2% to 26.6%, by almost doubling his 3pt attempts from 2.7 to 5.0 per game.

So it looks like he was asked to do more than he was capable of (carry a team). If he’s more selective and not one of the top 2-3 options then I think he can get back to being a 35% 3pt shooter.
The more concerning part is the low 2pt %, so either he’s a bad finisher, take a lot of long 2’s, or his midrange game need work.
From a quick look at highlights, he took a lot of difficult 2's off of drives. Made the ones on the highlight reels, and I'm guessing missed a bunch of others like them. I'm hoping he was just following the coaches orders cause coach figured the weren't going to get better shots.

I like this add. He has size and aside from the 3pt shooting, he's a pretty solid guard. He was a 35% 3pt shooter his freshman year so he CAN shoot, I think last year might have just been a bad year, on a bad team, with a **** coach.
Certainly not a bad get, but it's still certainly not the "superstar" add that Pope supposedly promised.

If this puts us out of the running for Pierre, then I do not like it at all.

Posters were waiting for another portal commitment and immediately bash it. He’s got some areas to improve in sure but Lowe is still a good player and will definitely help this team. Look at how much Butler improved offensively. Can we not be happy about another solid addition? You really can’t win with this board sometimes……

Folks, let me ask you a couple of questions. Do you remember Cliff Hawkins that played PG at UK from 2000-2004? Did you consider him to be a pretty damn effective guard?

If you answered yes to the above 2 questions, then relax about Jaland Lowe. He's basically a 2 inch taller version of Cliff Hawkins who shoots free throws much better. Don't believe me? Fine. Take a look at and compare their stats for yourself:

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/statistics/Players/Hawkins_Cliff.html

Feeling a little better now? Good. Now, remember that Cliff Hawkins wasn't the only decent player on his teams. He had guys like Tayshaun Prince, Marquis Estill, Chuck Hayes, Erik Daniels, Gerald Fitch and Keith Bogans around him. Surround Lowe with players of similar quality and his numbers will exceed Hawkins' in every category.

Take a deep breath and relax. This guy will be a terrific PG for us. By the time he leaves UK, we'll love him as much as we love Butler now.

After watching some highlights of Lowe if we can add Pierre that could be one of the best most athletic backcourt in the country with Jasper and Lewis. Oweh and Williams at the 3. We need Alvaro and a backup 4 badly and if we could get a big time 5 we could be very very good.

Not sure they play different positions. Pierre is 6’6 wing
Pierre is a ball dominant combo guard. With adding Lowe, Jasper, Lewis, Chandler and Oweh potentially returning, that doesn't leave room for Pierre imo. Hope I'm wrong on this one.

If @ralphdaltonfan says he's a good pick up then I'm all in. Dude is has been spot on evaluating people and telling us if people are gonna work. I remember him calling the sky Clark thing waaaay before it happened.
He is respected with his opinion on here I value it is right all the time of course not but is a very knowledgeable poster

But i kind of wonder how Pierre fits when we have Acaden and Jasper both expecting fairly big minutes (even if they can split time at guard positions). If Pierre is that much of a ball dominant guard, maybe Laland just fits the team better. I mean, without any transfers at all, we're going into next season with two 6'3 freshman top25 guards, with Perry and Chandler as backups, and Chandler more specifically being good enough for 15 or so minutes per game.

Ummm Pierre can definitely play more of a combo guard, but they certainly do play the same position. Pierre is more like Maxey when it comes to their positions.

They literally said in multiple threads days ago that Pope and company saw both this guy and who you’re talking about and were selling them on playing together. No clue if we will land him but this was part of the plan

He is the 5th best PG of the portal according to 247 rankings so nope I’m not delusional.
Do you honestly believe there's a difference in any of these guys?
The top spot at each position, maybe. After that they are basically the same. Anyone of those guys can be good in the right offense.

Not sure where they are grabbing that number but he did shoot 41% from 3 in conference during his freshman year.
he shot 40.3 % as a starter his freshman year (19 games). He came off the bench the first 14 games (26%) his freshman year. The last 19 games of his freshman year he shot 40.3% from 3. I have already posted the #s.

We severely need a starting 5 it may come later in the portal but we need a 5 and yes a back up 4 to Alvaro if he commits

- size, athleticism, physicality
- creative, slashing playmaker
- big assist guy
- good rebounder
- can draw fouls at will and score off it

Everything we needed from a gaurd in the SEC this past season. Add in what Kam Williams brings at the wing and Pope is checking boxes, and fit, left and right. Something is just wrong with some of you people.

Explain what you mean by that… he was one of 8 players in the entire country to average over 16th, 4 rebounds and 5.5 assists… also had 1.8 steals per game and shot 88% from the ft line. He can shoot. He was on a **** team with **** coaching. He’ll thrive under Pope. He doesn’t need to shoot over 40% from 3 anyways. 35% would do just fine. We will have the shooters . Especially if the guy from Spain commits
So he jacked up most of the shots and missed, I can't change what the numbers say.

I guess you didn't bother looking at your last years team stats that I linked.
Or read what I said.

Yes just what I said he might do better under pope's system but about every player had better stats last year then his.
I'm not going off points per game that can be deceiving by how many shoots you took.
Link to KY last year stats look at the % .
