That doesn’t mean he’s going to win and go to a final four. It’s an undeniable fact that this kid was Pope’s like 5th option at pg in the portal. If this kid was really the answer that yall want to act like then Pope would have went after him before before Dent, Duban, Demary and so on. No, the problem is we are absolutely sick of being miserable as that’s basically all we’ve been for the last 7-8 years and now we are seeing that next year looks to be yet another season of not going to a final four, let alone win a title. Our patience is gone. So yeah, there’s plenty of us that are going to be pissed and question things when we see we aren’t making the progress needed to win a title.
Duke and UNC are going to catch and pass us in titles at our current rate. Hell UConn too for that matter. Duke, UNC, UConn, and Kansas have all gained ground on us in titles the past 25 years. We are dangerously close to dropping down to 3rd, 4th or even 5th in alltime titles. That happens and we lose any reasonable claim we have as being the best program of alltime.

Here’s a wrench to throw in your hope. Do you KNOW he had to force shots? Or did he choose to take them? Dilkingham was a little of both. The difference? Rob could actually stick them.

Yeah. Lewis, Jasper, Moreno are all being slightly undervalued right now bc we have portal mania… but JJ is a top 15 guy and the other 2 are top 30. All 3 would have started or been in our top 6 with Cal here and we would have been hyping them as 1 and done.

Honest question. Since some of you like watching game tape of transfers we’re targeting, what was Pitt doing on offense this year? I keep seeing it said that his shooting numbers are so poor because they were a dreadful team that needed him to be the entire offense, but they ranked 52nd in offensive efficiency on KenPom. Not championship quality, but a lot better than his individual efficiency, so something’s not quite adding up to me.
That’s just it, I want to believe that. But what I’m currently stuck believing is he whiffed on guys he really wanted and got this guy. Simply because we needed a guy.

I love guys that have zero argument so you tell me what I WOULD say about someone. What I did say about Butler was I loved how he defended, but had questions about his offense. I also remember saying if JR and Chaz were on either side of him we’d have the best backcourt in college basketball. He was the perfect fit for that kind of offense. But sure, go on big fella, tell me what I would’ve said to prove some sort of point you’re trying to make.
I noticed some Pitt fans said he would get selfish and play hero ball at times.

Here's the other thing, injurirs killed us this year. If not for injuries, we could still be playing right now and I firmly believe this team is already better than the 25 team.
We have to maintain our top 10 offense, but improve our defense, rebounding and physicality. I think Pope will do that.
I expect JJ To be a little streaky. Will need to be reigned in some.

Gotta wonder how much of that is bc he was on a bad team with only one other decent/consistent player. When a coaches idea of offense is largely “go make a play” it encourages the only guy that can create his own or beat his guy to do too much. We saw the same thing with Archie Goodwin
Goodwin’s backcourt mates were Jarrod Polson, Ryan Harrow(who quit before conference play), Julius Mays, Jon Hood….with Wiltjer as the 4. Poythress was the only other guy with athletic ability but could barely dribble his first couple years

I just played golf with a hardcore Pittsburgh fan and he loves Lowe and said he is an absolute stud. Said Lowe was his and his kid's favorite player by a longshot. He was the only kid on their team that consistently showed up and left it all on the court every game.
