Building around doesn’t mean he’s the main option. Role players will make up 80%+ of your team. Hence why I said bring in one high level recruit and a stud portal player or two. Do that and return the right pieces and we are a top 5 team. Players can make huge jumps year to year, we’ve become to used to the Cal days of reload every year. It’s okay to build around a core base.
So after multiple years being derailed by injuries you want the core and the starting PG to be a player who is already injury prone, has already been out for the rest of a season, on a team that struggled tremendously, in Mark Pope's last year to prove it?

Let’s try this again, since you're the one who can’t read. Why would Mark Pope build around an injury-prone PG (role player or not) who has already had an injury that derailed the season, especially in Pope’s final make-or-break year?

“Bring in one high-level recruit”—there are no high-level PG recruits left.

“A stud portal player or two”—so recruit over Jaland Lowe? Jaland Lowe will not agree to being a backup PG. And I strongly disagree with the idea of the starting PG being a “role player.”

The claim about “being top five” is based on nothing, and bringing up Cal is completely irrelevant.

Lowe is going to go where he plays, he’s not going to sign on to be a backup player. If he would that would be fine but he won’t. It was a massive miss by Pope, he’s not that good anyway, definitely not UK caliber.

No you don’t bring him back. Either risk it on another fringe guy because you can’t recruit elite guards (risky “find a diamond”) or land a big time recruit. Running back a risky guard who’s very injury prone is the definition of stupid and something I fully expect pope to do honestly.

It’s why I don’t think he’ll be here long.

Did Lowe or Kam have a past history of injuries?
I ll take Lowe any day over the unknown. JJ wants to be the 2 & he can be the backup 1 & share 2 with CC. CC can share 3 with Kam & Jelli & Trent & Hawthorne. Mo Jelli & Hawthorne at 4 & MM & Potter at 5. JQ Probably gone.
OO - BG - Aberdeen gone.
4 openings Maybe up to 6.

If by value you mean starter minutes and production then no, they don't. Potter literally can't as he's redshirting. But they both do add value as depth pieces that don't require much NIL in case of injuries. They add bodies for the scout team in practice, and are willing to fill roles. They are exactly the type of 4 year Kentucky born players willing to play cigar minutes types fans have been screaming for. You can't have five stars fill spots 12-15 on the roster. Somebody has to do it, why not in state kids who want to be here?
This!

I would like to keep the kid. However, it’s pretty clear he’s way overrated. Again, would like to keep him, but won’t lose sleep if he bolts. He might wanna stick around and play with Moreno. They seem quite close. They definitely have chemistry on the court.

JJ is fine, he’s progressing normally for a high 4 low 5 which is what he is.

Lowe isn’t elite. That’s nonsense. Appears for 1/4th of the game to make a flashy pass then he’s non existent and hurts the team by sloppy play and bad decisions. I’d like him as a backup but he’s a little too good to be a backup. He can start for some power 4 programs, just not the elite ones. So I’d rather take a chance on a better looking prospect or hit the portal for a more polished PG without an injury history.

I just think he’s what he is and what he is gives us no shot at a final four with what we have coming in. This is it for Pope, might as well take your shot next year and dig for a portal PG who might turn into something (which happens routinely with the Portal, see fla Pg last season) and actually give yourself a shot. Lowe isn’t leading UK to a final four. So if Pope has to prove himself I’d rather him have a shot than not.

You’ve got very good chances Lowe is either hurt again next season or isn’t a great PG. why would I want him back? If he will assume a backup role that would be fantastic but he’s not a starting caliber UK PG.

Lowe seems like a really good kid, but he has two fatal flaws…he’s not a good shooter, and he makes too many bad decisions. I’d personally rather roll with JJ at PG next year if given the choice between the two

I do. You don't care anything about being loyal to kids that we recruited, played through injury and want to stay here. My way will win us a championship quicker than your way
lol you don’t even want to win championships guy.

Your opinions are literally in line with never winning a title. I want players who want to be here, and want Kentucky kids too. I think they add a lot to this program. And I think it’s important to sustain a roster of kids who remain here and don’t bolt. There has to be a balance and we can’t have revolving doors of transfers, there will be no connection to the team which is what makes UK’s program and base so strong.

However, you have to put winning ahead of everything. I could post so many of your responses where losing is completely excused. You definitely don’t have a winners mindset. Don’t kid yourself.

JJ, MM, and Noah, Chandler…These are your core to return no matter what. He hasn’t solidified the PG spot and Lowe isn’t it, so go shopping. If Lowe is fine splitting the time and being PG2, I’d love to have him. No way he does that because he’s better than a P4 backup. Maybe pay him enough to not care.

You don't know squat about building a championship. When Cal was ran off, why didn't we hire Hurley or Oats? Oh, I forgot, they didnt want to come here. How about we call up Billy Donovan again and let him reject us for a tenth time. Hell, Scott Freaking Drew said no to making more money to coach UK than stay at....Baylor LMAO. How about baking the coach we have...thats how Hurley started winning Championships...after having a worse record two year record than Pope, despite starting with more kids and playing in a weaker conference and a weaker schedule....rookie
