Don’t sleep on this kid. I’ve liked him since he committed. Dana says “he doesn’t look like a freshman. 6’2” 210 lbs, breakaway speed, been good in protection”. IMO the hand wringing about the RB room isn’t warranted.
He going to definitely in the running plans with Mozee and Nelson.

I hope a massive and improved O line under Geep will make all our backs look better. There is a buzz about the big boys up front. GBR

The hand wringing will continue — until no longer warranted. That goes for all position groups. There are lots of reasons for being optimistic, but nearly as many to have doubts.

If everything “clicks” and some breaks go our way there is a chance to make the playoffs. The opposite is true, as well.

i am most excited to see how the 3rd and short and red zone play calling helps. Prior 2 years the play calls were cut down drastically because of no QB run threat. Even 1-2 yards. A lot easier to play defense against us.

Regardless, it is going to be worth watching. I am looking forward to being a fan.

how long will it take the staff to make him the #1 rb? that's where all the problems are, with the decision making of this staff. The 3 other guys aren't even real running backs, and it still sounds like Nelson is taking #1 snaps, and the kid has yet to bust off anything more than 20 yards.. it's all about the damn decision making, which our coaches suck at.

He had one big run in a scrimmage against a bunch of 3rd string scrubs. Rule (and Rhule) haven't proven a damn thing yet.

that was the ONLY bright spot in the running back room, and remains to be seen if it's repeatable.. the kid looks like a real running back to me.. the rest of them are dogshit, except maybe the kid from wahoo.

Nelson had a 38 yard TD run in the bowl game.

I'm a little disappointed because I thought OP would be telling us not to sleep on Connor Booth. However, I will say I'm prepared to really like this kid.

I just came here to say, I don't know how - but I think you killed him! Weird coincidence. No more talking about Black anyway.
They're down to two now - and only one original.

An interesting coincidence. It looks like four of the five guys who are going to start are black and the only white guy that will start has the last name of Black.
I’m not so sure Gottula won’t be our starter at RT. The guy from SC wasn’t a top tier transfer IMO. Gottula tried to gut it out with a leg injury last fall that eventually ended his season.

Booth has drawn some praise. He’s the kind of RB Fitzgerald would have run for 100 on us. Rule, Nelson and Mozee all have big play potential. The O line will determine how much success they have.

They key IMO is that he's good in protection. We'll see of course. The lack of protection ability usually is the downfall that keeps young talented running backs off the field.

Running back is a concern.

The offensive line will be better. This is good news.

However, the defense held the offense to less than 3 yards per rush at the scrimmage last Saturday. Defenses typically look better in early scrimmages, so while it is not panic time, we definitely need to improve the run game. QB will help with that some.

RB was a concern until EJ separated himself in games. When you don’t have a returning bell cow RB it’s al says a concern in college. Looks to me like we have 3 good options who could step up

Such a double edged sword from scrimmages. Good side is that we need a D that can finally stop the run. Bad side is our O needs to do it too!
