I don't know much about the young man, but when I see people liken him to Boom Williams, I get a little giddy. He might be RB 1A? Thunder & Lightning back in Lexington?
I think that is the hope. And make McClain the 3rd down back.

Not that it matters too much but is relevant, where would a Wilcox commitment put us in the rankings?

Might Jefferson be back and in contention for RB2? I know injuries happen to RBs every year so having 4-5 guys is a good thing.
Hoping Jefferson can contribute. Saw a very short vid of him on Twitter running a sprint, encouraging because we have a long time to go but he looked to have a pretty good hitch in his get along.

If Wilcox commits (and I'm very hopeful he does), the RB room should be Wright, McClain, Jefferson, Davis and Wilcox. Have some inside runners and, with Wilcox, at least one breakaway guy. Wright and McClain at times have shown they can catch a bit, also. Should be a pretty decent, although not outstanding, RB room if we get the commit today. I trust Coen, with these pieces, can scheme to get the most out of the room.

I think Wilcox can absolutely roll and has the speed.
Or that’s what a few guys here at work are saying.

It's entirely possible that Wilcox gets a lot of carries early. I like all of our backs, but we really need JW to complete our backfield. No way to know who will sit where on the depth chart until after spring practice.

Liking the way the offensive talent is looking. Just need 1 more lineman or 2. Tackles specifically

I disagree. I think it will be outstanding.

With what Coen does with motion and the passing game, if we get both of the tackle spots solidified, this group of backs (with Wilcox) could break out really well.

The only other concern I have is how much time Leary will have in the offense before fall. Can he adjust well to the under center portion of the offensive scheme? I think he can, but that and coming off of the injury... Just hope it goes well

I haven't watched s ton of Leary tape, but my impression is he played in a comparable scheme with pro style concepts. And he should be good to go all Spring.

If only he were allowed to talk to the media, maybe we would find out about his injury recovery!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, I'm sure JMI will get something out in a few months.

Coen was specific that he hadn't been running as much under center at NC state. That's what I was referring to

Can't say I agree with 'outstanding'. There are most likely 6 teams in the SEC who will have better RB room. Ours should be solid, though.

Like being 7th in SEC isn't still outstanding nationally... If we finish 4th in the conf in rushing I won't be surprised

Wilcox at 195 as a freshman will end up being a load.

Coen said he was looking forward to coaching Jefferson. His return is the plan. The RB room will compete for RB1 and RB2, or whether we see more of a committee. Coen wants a guy to show he is the one. But, admits that may not happen.

Leary wants to play more under center, which Coen gives him, but Coen will play to his strengths.

TOS lists him at 5'7", don't know if that's accurate or a misprint. Accurate and he's like the second coming of Mark Higgs.
Good comparison.

When Higgs reported to UK, he weighed 165 pounds, but had 26 inch thighs. That number stood out to me at the time, as my college waist size was a 32 . . . and a 165 pounder’s thighs were nearly as thick!!

He was running at 195ish his last year at UK.

The strangest thing about Higgs’ anatomy: his legs were almost as long as his 6’5” linemen. He had no torso to speak of: a helmet and shoulder pads sitting on top of long legs.

He had at least 6 years in the league. But I always wondered what he might have produced absent the injury his Sophomore year.

He's 5'9" or 5'10" by the way, 195 and runs a 4.46 40? Sheesh.

Yeah, if he's really 5'10" he can put on another 20+ in muscle pretty easy. He'd be the size of CRod and Benny but much faster. Fantastic.
We’ve been waiting for one of the Blue Chip backs to fall our way for years. Hasn’t our top back led the conference in rushing most years since 2016?

And, sure, C-Rod and Snell were under valued.

Oh, Boom was a 4 Star and the No. 1 All Purpose back in the ‘14 Class.

Put it this way: UK's had five 3000+ yard career rushers in its history. Two have occurred in the last 5 years.

Tip of the hat to new UK RB coach Jay Boulware. He came in and nailed down Davis/Wilcox in a very short period of time. Good sign for the future.
