“At the end of the day that’s where he’s starting, at that field backer position,” head coach James Franklin said Monday.

It’s a move that Franklin said allows Penn State to get its best 11 players on the field,

Franklin sure has seen more from Sutherland the the average fan. But from what I've seen the last few years if Sutherland is one of the best 11 players on defense the defense is headed for a long season.

He never has looked instinctive. Over runs himself out of making tackles. Misses too many tackles that he gets a hand on. Just doesn't seem to fit the mold of PSU linebacker.

Just have to hope my eyes have bee deceiving me .......

I was hoping Buddin would win the job. And then when I saw a recent picture of Buddin, looking like he put on 15+ lbs of muscle, I was hoping all the more for Buddin. Just have to also hope that Franklin's affinity for Seniors does not prevent a true competition at Sam.

Sutherland will spend most of the spring getting a haircut.
