Pike got a nice intro to the crowd - big applause, as one would expect. Great pic.
Given how QB is, by far, the most important position on the field, I'm always interested to hear what people have to say about them and Kratch had a similar perspective as many of us in the game thread, although I didn't quite see as much daylight between Snyder and Simon as he did. I think we have 3 capable QBs (and Langan for his unique skill set), which is a good thing. Unsaid is that the quality of the QBs we have is likely a major reason for Art leaving the program as I'm guessing he knew he was #3 at best.

In general I was encouraged by the QBs. I might give the slight edge to Simon. Both were good. Snyder's big play was bad throw. Washington was wide open but Snyder badly missed him. If Washington doesn't make the play of the game to catch it and stay in stride to score we'd be talking about how Snyder missed a wide open receiver for a score.
I thought that, after the first series by each, Simon was well behind Snyder. But - in the end - both did reasonably well. That said - I think that they each have a lot of work to do in order to be a strong back-up in this league. There were throws across the body (to the middle of the field), throws off the back foot, throws behind or too high for the receiver, etc. Some of that was disappointing (although, watching the receivers make some pretty terrific catches was rather encouraging).
I'm not expecting that either of those guys compete for the top job. That's not happening this season. And, it's better to identify these sorts of things now, so that they have time to work on them. But, similar to what you wrote, I didn't see as much daylight between the two.

Something to think about: He mentions that depth is improved because of "the good fortune to retain almost all of its key seniors for an extra year of eligibility." But this is true for all teams. So, not to pour cold water on our improvements, but it's possible that every team will be a little deeper and a little better than usual this year.
But some of the most highly ranked teams will have lost players who entered the NFL draft. perhaps even early. You have a valid point, but I think RU has an advantage in this regard.
