Thats why I love Stoops and Gran being here. Being at FSU, they know what talent looks like. They were surrounded by it at every positionFor us to offer and accept his commitment this early in the process with the small class that we anticipate this year means this guy is legit. Expect him to add offers as the year wears on.
Don't think so. Kid committed at Jr day. They saw,him in person and accepted his commitment. He'll have to keep working but normal improvement would mean he's a cat.Agree the coaches must think they've found a sleeper, but wonder if the offer is conditional based on his returning to camp and producing?
However, this could be similar to the C from last year or the year before that committed, came to camp, then decommitted shortly after.
He's not a sleeper. He had other offers. Not like we were the first one on him.Agree the coaches must think they've found a sleeper, but wonder if the offer is conditional based on his returning to camp and producing?

Your attempt at analogy to a previous commit/decommit has no basis presented.
As noted by others, this is an early offer. Davis has the frame, speed, and athleticism to be protectable. That's our staff's specialty. Plus, he likes Kentucky enough to attend our junior day. The floor for a player with these measurables would be a good, solid special teams player. The ceiling is a starting 6-3 eventually 240 pound edge linebacker who can rush the quarterback and run sideline to sideline with SEC playmakers. Eligibility is based on grades, which must be maintained in the senior year. The door only stays open for kids who work hard, stay out of trouble, and manage to avoid career changing injuries. The reality is that any scholarship offer can be pulled, and Stoops has pulled a few. But not very often. If Stoops and Eliot like him, that's good enough for me.Agree the coaches must think they've found a sleeper, but wonder if the offer is conditional based on his returning to camp and producing?

UK football fans aren't "coachable"...After 4 years now why arent UK fans smart enough to realize early evaluation of recruiting talent is the very best skill that Stoops & his staff possess? How many times over the years have we offered guys first or gotten early committments who's other offers were sun belt, fans ***** & moan about 'sleepers' and 'under the radar' not being a winning SEC strategy, and by late summer/fall the same kid has multiple Big 5 conference school offers?

The staff only offered after they saw him in person. The kid is 6"3 206 pounds now before his senior year. This staff covets length and athleticism over everything else. He shows athleticism on his film and I guess the staff was blown away by his measurements in person so why wait to offer. If this is directed at me, I don't understand why nasty tone. No where in my post was I moaning about anything. By your own words above, that's exactly what I would describe as a sleeper... someone that the staff has seen early that hasn't blown up yet.
Yes, I posed the question as to whether or not the staff may be interested in seeing the kid in camp. Also, I corrected myself in comparing him to the recruit a couple of years ago as the difference (IIRC) being the previous recruit's measurables were inflated compared to when he got on campus.
I, too, have been impressed with this staff's early evaluation of talent. However, I was just curious about this recruit in particular b/c nothing in particular (on paper) seem to jump off the page. Considering this class is likely to be smaller, meaning the staff will be more selective, I was just curious about him.
Before people start jumping all over someone posing a question, how about just looking at the question being posed at face value?
Wonder if Grumpy has any inside scoop on this young man?
it wasnt directed at you, just some fans on here & on twitter in general who say the same things on this recruit and in prior years for our early winter/spring recruitsIf this is directed at me, I don't understand why nasty tone.

Your thinking of luke hiers at center. He camped at UK and was pretty much handled by another 2 star dtackle that the staff didn't even offer is why they backed off. Plus they had Toth and Drake Jackson the next class.I agree, which is why I attempted to clarify that after my initial post. My poor comparison to the previous year recruit was exactly the opposite of what you stated... AFTER that recruit showed up on campus, the staff backed away, which I assume b/c his measurements were not what had been reported when he initially committed.
