Why did he snub us on the first go-round?
He.....got a commitable offer from Ohio, they wanted him badly, so he chose them? We were 'snubbed' by a top 3 close by program.

As always I trust Stoops and Marrow. He's only played 2 games in 2 yrs, on a mediocre D. would be a pass for me.

Remember watching his film in high school and thinking he was going to be a stud, but not sure he ever seriously considered us back then so will believe it when I see it now. Apparently had an injury at Ohio St that set him back a little.

Only 6'2, not good safety size. Guess he moved to S from corner after the ACL.

IN the portal from Ohio State (South Warren HS). This is a name to watch. 4 star safety in 21 class.
JMO, but I doubt UK gets Dunn. I would not even be confident that the two parties will talk seriously. It isn't a question of need. We could use Dunn. But consider this. As a senior at South Warren hs, Dunn did not elect to take an official visit to UK despite being offered by Coach Marrow. Here are SEC programs that offered Dunn-

AL
AR
GA
UK
MS
MS St
TN

Here are B10 teams that offered Dunn-

IN
MI
MI St
OH St
PA St
Purdue

Here are some other schools who offered him-

Baylor
UL
Miami
OK
SCal
TX

None of this means Dunn could not transfer to UK, but I don't see any reason right now to think Lexington will be his first focus. Nothing suggests he seriously considered UK before. Everyone is different.

The DB transfer that I would most like to get, and the one I believe our coaches are most focused on, is JQ Hardaway. That doesn't mean Stoops won't take two from the portal, but they are also talking with Khyree Jackson.

You are prob right. I would compare this to Lacey's recruitment. UK knew he was gonna enter for a while and has been interested and reportedly has talked with him. It will prob depend on who recruits and offers him

There will be a market for Dunn. UL and several SEC and ACC schools almost for sure. He was a track star in hs and he has excellent speed and length. He needs to develop more strength, but he has multiple years of eligibility. If he has ever had second thoughts about not taking UK more seriously, this is his chance. But it seems more likely to me that he would probably not feel differently now. Of course, it would be great if he transferred to UK. I just don't see it.

And if we can get Hardaway or Jackson, nobody will miss Dunn.

Uk safeties are Vito Lovett Geiger Afari Childress along with some nice rated hs safeties

I don’t think he’s a priority for portal needs IMO.
Afari is a nickel back but Stoops wants to move him to a corner. Geiger will miss spring practice. He and Tisdale are recovering from serious injuries and surgery. Lovett and Childress have been doing a good job. Albert has also seen some snaps, but he is not very big. We could use one more safety out of the portal, and I would not be surprised if that happens. But I will be very surprised if we get Dunn.

Embarrassing
Yeah, Top 15 in the second toughest conference . . . . that’s better than “mediocre.”

And I’m not sure we should judge individual transfers based on the collective performance of their unit or team.

If Dunn was injured, did he even contribute to that “mediocre Top 15” defense? If he didn’t get to play, might he have helped that defense?

If you don’t think Stoops has massively increased expectations, this thread is instructive: some want to pass on a top 200 Four Star player from the 2022 signing class because he only played on the team that has made the playoffs the third most in the country since 2014.

Hmmmm.
