Huge test for Beran. If he can limit his offensive rebounds and fast break points and make him work to score in their offense, we have a pretty good chance. Beran has some length on him so hopefully that will help. Jaquez, Jr. is not a freakish athlete. He just seems like he does everything well, plays really hard, is strong, and is very intelligent. Barnhizer seems to be a pretty good matchup as well.

Buie will have his hands full with Campbell but that should be a great matchup on both ends of the court.

We will have to continue to hit shots (obviously) but this should be a great game.

I don't predict Beran will be on Jaquez for long. For a while, yes, because I don't remember the last time CC changed his starting 5 because of a specific team, but not for long. Switching anyway, so limited exposure.

Beran played 14 minutes yesterday. UCLA is 4 strong *** guards and a 6'10 dude. I don't think he plays more than 15 minutes against UCLA.

I predict more of what we saw yesterday. Barnihizer playing 30+ and Martinelly playing around 10.

PS - Jaquez is a multi dimensional dude. Does a lot of things well.

I think Beran can be effective on Jaquez because of his length. Defense on Jaquez will be more important than offense tomorrow. I think he will play 20 plus minutes. And it's a stretch calling Jacquez a guard.

You are not the only one seeing Beran's lateral movement as more competent than I do.

I still have nightmares of Beran guarding Jamison Battle or Keegan Murray.

I think he has done a great job this year on switches. He has consistently been able to get his shoulders squared. I think Jaquez is more crafty and strong than explosive, so we will have to stay on our feet and not go for ball fakes. I can see Beran getting into foul trouble.

He looks like an angry version of Pancho Villa in white tights. Not sure how you guard that.

You called it. Beran couldn't handle Jacquez. Honestly, not many college players can. He's a savvy veteran, a good athlete, and a scoring load.

You were absolutely right about playing time. Clearly, Collins prefers Barnhizer. I didn’t think Jacquez scored on Beran much. In part because Beran played so little and we switch so much.

I honestly wasn’t that impressed by him. He seemed good at driving into smaller defenders, pushing in, then awkwardly throwing up a shot.

Now those shots mostly went in, so it was super ugly, but functional. But his size won’t impress at the next level and his ball handling was mediocre.

I don’t think he’s any kind of nba material.

He's an ideal college player (like Luka Garza or TJD) because he's really good but not necessarily a great NBA prospect, so he stayed 4 years. I'd rather have 4 years of him than 1 year of Filipowski or Lively. I have seen him drafted late in the 1st round or early 2nd. I agree that he may not be quick or long enough to play a lot in the NBA since he's a below average 3-point shooter.

Charlotte just used a second-round pick Amari Bailey, the freshman guard who was UCLA’s #2 scorer in that game.

Barnhizer has some traits that remind me of Jacquez Jr. Not particularly fast, bouncy, or anything else. But incredible instincts.

Jacquez is quick, a trait the NBA consistently overlooks.

Same thing with Jokic. Sure in a foot race slow as a snail but when doing controlled basketball movements will get by you or get a play done better than most.
