That's good to read. He seems like a great guy away from the game, and likely a great parent as well. He's still a young man, but it was time for him to stop and consider whether he might miss some things he shouldn't. The last time I saw him appear at a game, I was really disturbed by his weight. Just telling it like it is. Good luck, JLo!

Throwboy tees still owe me a t-shirt, for one of the point contests... bastards
Seriously, he seems like a good guy and loves him some UK... Just a welcher on Tshirt bets.

Bout time, congrats, smart move. I can't imagine how people lug around 300# all day, especially if they aren't in shape.

I do and it's becoming a dangerous and painful burden. At 52, it's not a good mix. As for our former Hefty Lefty, he seems like a great guy with a great attitude. His life is good and I'm happy for him.

Lorenzen was also my favorite UK QB. I always thought he could have had a career like Ben Roethlisberger. Lorenzen had one of the strongest arms I have ever seen and he was extremely mobile for his size. He could throw a football 80 yards and his touch was pretty good. I think the weight issue got in the way of what might have been a really good NFL career. None the less, I am so glad that he played for UK and is doing well.

I watched the video that was embedded in the article. I can only imagine what that 2,000 team could have done with a good defense. We haven't seen offense like that in years, at UK.

Jared isn't alone in his battle, I could stand to lose a few myself, I know other big men can relate to him. Just don't lose faith because I know you have it in you.

Watched the video, too. Was amazed to recall the number of offensive weapons we had on that team.

One of my favorites was Dougie Allen, WR. Can't recall which year it was, but prior to injuring his knee he had something like 25 catchable passes thrown in his direction. The result 25 completions. That my friends is nearly unheard of. (Our current batch of WRs could take some lessons.) What a shame that an injury cut short such a great career.

Anyone know what he is doing today????

I will see if I can get Dougie Allen to sit down for an interview!

This thread got me reminiscing... I work with Aaron Boone once or twice a year; thought I would look up his stats. Did you know he was all-state QB in high school?

I was around the program when all those guys were there. Everyone of them are really great guys. Champ was prolly my favorite guy on that team. Just had a tremendous personality, it's easy to see why he has had such success in the NFL front offices.

I was so pissed when Hudson wasted an entire season using JL the wrong way. Last years goober OC reminds me of Lorenzen being misused. ,...but wouldn't you know it there were UK fans taking up for Hudson and even some taking up Dawson.

I think Jared's weight is part of his appeal If he loses weight I will unfollow him on twitter and he will be dead to me.
