Louisville reached back to the Sunshine State for its latest commitment as Palm Beach Gardens athlete Jarrett Jackson announced for the Cardinals on Monday night.

The 6-foot-4, 257-pound Jackson, who projects as a defensive end or tight end, committed to the Cardinals over Florida State. Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia were also among the large group of programs to extend a scholarship offer.

An April visit with Louisville helped strengthen the Cardinals connection with the talented athlete and proved to be a critical part of his recruiting process.

"I chose Louisville because the visit felt like home and they made me feel like a first priority," he told Scout.com Florida Recruiting Analyst Corey Bender. "Also, they've been in contact with me everyday through my recruiting process, showing that they care.

"I want to shoutout coach (Stephen) Field and coach Cort (Dennison)," he said following his commitment. "They're two great guys always checking up on me and seeing how things are going and they were a big reason the Ville felt like home for me."

Jackson is a Scout.com three-star prospect. He's rated among the nation's top 30 defensive end prospects. He was selected as a Top 18 prospect by the Orlando Sun Sentinel.

Jackson becomes the 15th member of Louisville's 2018 recruiting class and the ninth from Florida.
