Back on topic, I'm very excited about this kind of athlete. His motor is tuned to high performance the whole game. He embodies "next play." Zero taunting in his highlights and he's apparently been working his butt off to get this kind of offer, which to me means he doesn't settle for a great offer (somewhere like UVA). Instead, he wants THE offer, and to be the best he can to earn a pro contract one day. He'll bring the work ethic to push the one-and-dones and to set the tone.

I thought this was a nice quote about DeLaurier and his long-term value to the program: "It’s certainly difficult to project stats or status for DeLaurier, given Duke’s recruiting preeminence. But suffice it to say that even a loaded Blue Devils squad will require talent and experience, and DeLaurier’s ultimate value to the program could mirror or exceed that of Amile Jefferson or Lance Thomas — vital cogs in national championship machinery." -Evan Daniels

I don't think this affects Giles: DeLaurier is a three-four year player, while Giles will play immediately anywhere he goes.

Great choice Javin!! Can't wait to watch you grow in the best system in College BB, especially with the motor you seem to have, it will serve you well under Coach K, who also just happens to be the best Coach in College BB.
Go Duke!!

Great pick up for Duke- 4 year player, high motor, great academics and one of the hardest working players in the class. Not much wrong with that! Congrats and welcome!

IMO Giles is next (soon) and then we have to wait til Spring to see if anyone leaves early before we get a center. And even if the bigs are gone, I think we'll be fine with Vrank and Obi-Sean, given the depth elsewhere in the front court.

I'm not sure on that. We know when Giles will go- it'll be at the start of November after he takes all of his visits. I think Bolden goes before that.

Love hearing we got a guy with such a motor. Really looking forward to him wearing the Duke uniform.

Just think if Javin had decided UNC was his choice he would have instantly become a 6 star prospect and in the top three prospects in the country with the potential to be the @ draft pick in the 2017 draft and well on his way to being one of the top 50 players in NBA history but now he is just a Coach K project.:D OFC

To be fair, this would've been the highest ranked kid they landed in 3 years.

^ They are going absolutely bonkers because the 61st ranked player is about to commit to them. Apparently the SWAT team has been called out to Chapel Hill to quell the impending riots

I was just about to ask if the Robinson kid that just committed to them was 2016 or 17 because I didn't see him on the 2016 list, but I just did not scroll down low enough.

This is all crazy. This is UNC, one of the great names of college bball!!! If you told me five years ago, hell even three, that they would be scratching and clawing to get any top 50 kids I would never, never have believed it. I don't think this trend will continue, but for it to even go on for a little while at a school like UNC is crazy.
