I don't have inside information. I look at the roster and see the obvious needs. Mainord is a good talent evaluator. If he wants Gossier, he has a reason. They may want to establish a stronger recruiting track record in south Florida. But when I look at the roster, I see lots of good young receivers, none are seniors. Only 2 seniors started against Missouri on our entire offense, Swindle and West. Both may have just lost their starting jobs to sophomores. Our offense is still very young. But I see 7 seniors starting on our defense. So far, 11 of our 2016 commitments are offensive players, 10 are defense. Out of 4 commitments for 2017, 3 are offense. So I figure we will see a future emphasis on recruiting defensive players, especially since Stoops' background is defense. That makes sense to me. Maybe I will be wrong. It wouldn't be the 1st time.

Actually totally agree. Just saying there must be something they like about Gosier plus, as I said, he had late offers from Clemson and WVU. Hope he makes it.

I think there is something they like about every player they offer. At the time they offered Gossier, they didn't know whether Montgomery or Badet would ever play for them again. Baker had just had knee surgery. Stump had de-committed. I am not trying to say anything about Gossier. I'm sure Gossier is a fine player, or else he would not have gotten an offer from us. Just saying we have a lot of impressive young receivers already, but not enough defenders. As time moves along, coaches have to re-evaluate how and where to invest scholarships. I don't have any inside knowledge on who will be taken, but usually isn't very hard to guess.

The remainder of this class will be made up of defensive players as suggested. A couple of OLB types, a D-lineman and a corner would be my guess.

There is only one 's' in Gosier and if he is qualified after this semester then I would expect him to enroll at UK.

Thank you. Going forward, I also expect a heavy emphasis on recruitment of defenders. Certain positions are typically harder to recruit well, such as quarterback, left tackle, defensive tackle, linebacker, cornerback. With the accelerating momentum in our program now, I expect a new influx of premium defensive prospects to balance the improving pool of young talent on our offense.

Should we take that this would mean one less in the 2016 class or would he now count just against the 85 total? Thanks.

We didn't use all 25 for 2015 so we could back count if we can keep the overall at 85. I'm not saying we will over sign but that possibility is there.

Rumor is that Provitt is RSing, he's taking classes somewhere (Lackawana?) & that he still likes UK. IDK how true some of that is, but I suspect that he is indeed at a JUCO and he will hopefully graduate next year.

Provitt is rs'ing at Lackawanna from what I heard. He will play next year then have 3 to play 3. Heard a month or so ago that our coaches were keeping in touch with him.

Very encouraging news, smart to take a year and get his academics in order.

Yeah Provitt is at juco. Redshirting players aren't listed on the official juco rosters. He would be HUGE to get back in the fold.

Provitt was signed because a couple of other defensive prospects decommitted. There was never a lot of confidence that he would make it, but it was a reasonable risk to take under the circumstances. If Provitt can make it now, they take him. Guys like Provitt who can play a 1 technique with power and leverage in the SEC are rare. They have Elam and Kobe Smith, but they would surely take Provitt if he can do the work. Problem is, he probably can't do the work. It will be great if he can do it though. I doubt they need Gossier now. Why take another 2 year guy when they have Ross coming? They already have so many 4 year receivers with equal or better talent. From what I hear, Richardson, Greenwood, Holtzclaw and Ross are very good. Bone, Johnson, and Badet are sophomores, Snodgrass still a freshman. They can still use more receivers, but their recruiting pull is on the rise and Mainord will take more 4 year players like Greenwood and Richardson who can redshirt.

Snodgrass transferred out didn't he?

Does anyone know why and where Snodgrass transferred to? I was excited when we got him. Hate it that he left, but wish him all the best.
