That's a very superficial take.
I think you’re under estimating how both OSU and Iowa fans have felt when it comes to top recruits the past several years. Has felt inevitable. I’m not talking facts and rankings and who Cael didn’t get, but how we have felt. So to have the 3 top studs in one week commit and not one choose PSU feels like the door is opening a little (in terms of recruiting). That’s why he said they got away. It feels that way. And my feelings don’t care about your facts!

Congrats! I honestly thought Iowa would get Jax and Okie would get Bo. For me it's much like the Spencer Lee/Nick Suriano's recruitment battle. A surprising one to the end!

I really like Jax. Elite

BTW you guys definitely are getting a great one in Ross. He may be your best recruit when it's done..
You gonna let Hawk fans continue to roast @chasepollard over on your board?

Yes, Thompson and Hughes are going to have to work hard to have a position in the starting lineup. Right now, Thompson would be our starting 184 next year. I think Jamison needs to move to 149 next year and so Hughes if that happens would likely be our 141. It could be that the coaching staff is seeing an unwillingness to work hard with Thompson and therefore are looking for a transfer 184 for next year. I hope he doesn't screw this up but I must admit after watching him I believe in the Hays tournament I was shocked how little effort or ability that he showed. Time will tell. I really want these 2 to succeed and as I indicated yesterday, I hope Sakamoto is what Coach Smith said he was.
I’m gonna be bullish on Thompson for 2 reasons

1. He could’ve easily hit the portal (or gotten the boot) when DT and the staff came in with their lifestyle changes for the team. He’s still here (as far as we know).

2. DT clearly sees something in him, else he wouldn’t have brought him as his sparring partner to the world championships. Hopefully that investment pays dividends.

I know he was up and down last year and faded down the stretch, but I think a lot of that was cutting too much weight and not cutting the “right” way. He may not have impressed at the Hays tournament but as far as I can tell no one in the staff was there with him. Give him a full year with these guys and let’s see what he can do this next year.

oh yea, next year Hughes should fill in at 141, I forgot Jax is only a junior with all this talk him and Bo still have another year of HS. Hopefully Hughes, Jax and Jamison can all spread out over the next year or two to get them all in the lineup

His answer at 9:20 below. He says likely 141 as a freshman assuming he keeps growing, and 149 later on. And that he wants to wrestle as a freshman, but would accept redshirting if that's best for the team.

I'd give anything to see Jax have a growth spurt and him and Bassett were at same weight. Love him to definitively prove he was the best recruit of the two.

Jax RS and then stepping in at 149 his rsFR year after Jamison graduates seems ideal. Seems crazy to think the #9 p4p class of 2023 kid (Hughes) would not be a lock by 26/27 season as a starter at 141 but remains to be seen unfortunately.

Welcome to the club. If DT is for real in challenging Cael...you better get use to trying to figure out how kids fit in.

Pretty happy with this.

This isn’t a slam on Bo at all but after listening to them and watching them over the last several months Jax just “felt” like a Cowboy. I know that won’t make sense to the fans of other schools but if you know you know.

Wow, I guess that’s never happened before. Look here everybody we have an Iowa guy who can’t let something go! He’s a real funny guy. Let’s all welcome him with a one finger salute.

I went to the Penn. St. forum and looked at the last few pages of the Jax Forrest thread. They think highly of Jax but rate Duke and Blaze as better and will have better careers. In general, they are somewhat respectful to the Cowboys mostly because of Taylor. Iowa gets killed there of course. We are getting good recruits, but their 24 and 25 classes will keep them winning is how they see it. Much of their confidence seems to come from the fact that they have the master, and we have the pupil. They are very cocky which makes sense because they have dominated for well over a decade. It would be great if we could start winning team championships again. They know we are no threat this year and no threat next year. I agree with their conclusion. A couple of posters expressed some concern by 2027 we could be competitive. I think they believe if they weren't so stacked with great wrestlers Cael would have put more effort into getting Bo and Jax. Being objective, you can't deny the unbelievable quality of their 24 and 25 classes. But our 25 and 26 classes could match up if we got 1 more star in 2026. In 2027 class we need 1 or 2 great recruits we could put some real fear into them if we show great development.

All in all, that’s a fair take of the PSU board.

That's a good take. PSU fans will tell you, no one wanted Jax more than me. I almost embarrassed myself gushing over him for the past year to be honest. Lol. I still like Blaze and Duke. But I have a tendency to do that...kinda in the same way I never ever place a bet against my favorite teams. Even if it's to cover a spread. If I'm right, I want to be right with my guys being the ones making me right if that makes any sense..

Guys, I can't hold it in any longer.. I just have to let it out but it's just between us. I'm a wrestling prophet. I can see the future. With Bo choosing Iowa, I know you're all down but in the future, you're going to love what the wrestling Gods have given us.

Jax will be at PSU. It's exactly how Cael has planned it (yes pyles, he has a plan). Jax will also be hitting a growth spurt in the next year or so. So much so, that he and Bo will be at the same weight all 4 years in college. The crazy thing about all this? That same, less heralded recruit (Jax) beats Bo in the national finals ALL 4 YEARS!

What about moneybags Bob you may ask? Well, he's being pushed around in his wheelchair at the psyche ward, slobber all over his face and thousands of single mothers are "squatting" in his rentals...

We’re watching you like a Hawk, JTS. You have a short time to deliver now and, if you fail, you may need to seek refugee status on another board for a while.

The cockyness I can do without. There was a lot of patronizing when I have gone to certain sites, but it only makes me that much happier when we will start to contend. We are the comeback story, we are the pokes.

Most people don't know this about me but I have a mild disdain for Iowa and most of their fans. I'd be ok with OK St. being PSUs chief competitor...

All fan forums have a cockiness. Heck, just look at Iowa. They have the first big win on the recruiting front in a long time, and the peacocks come out of the woodwork on every forum known to man to proclaim it and defend against how it looked. Even normally reasonable posters got bent out of shape defending Slumlord. It makes me laugh. In the end, it's just a college sport. It doesn't take over my identity and life.
