Twitter is posting that he is retiring, Always thought he was a class guy and if he is he didn't need the goodbye tour. Should be interesting how Villanova does in the future.

The cynic in me immediately thinks violations/scandal when a college coach leaves unexpectedly
Me too. But in this day and age when everything seems to go, what could it be? Does seem to be a little out of Pete Carroll’s playbook.

Well that can't hurt with local top talent if nova falls off. Have to think they take a step back at least

Not at all. This could be a positive for us in the short run unless Pitino flies in there. But long term, who does it position as a big dog in the BE? SHU? Possible.

Death Blow to the "Villanova and 10 Dwarfs Conference"......I guess playing 3 games at the Mecca vs the likes of Butler; Creighton and Xavier isn't enough for Wright to stay.

My guess is Wright is ether burnt out or Fox made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

It also wouldn't shock me if Wright entertains NBA - such as for Knicks or Nets or Lakers gig.....

Kyle Neptune taking over. Was 16-16 at Fordham this years and spent the prior 10 at Villanova as Jay's assistant.

the reality is gonna smack you in the face when this becomes more commonplace and it's NIL related while you still will be contending NIL isn't bad and doesn't adversely effect college athletics

I agree NIL bad, but why would this have to do with NIL? Why would he leave?

Wow. Hopefully helps us w/ recruiting in the region. Too bad it didn’t happen early enough to net us Armstrong
Armstrong might decommit from Villanova and become one of the top remaining high school recruits. The elite basketball programs will be in contact ASAP.

Why would this be NIL related? Villanova has more money available than most teams as they have super wealthy boosters that like to give their money to the program.

Some teams gotta win. NIL will be good for someone that figured it out
