Jaylin seemed to be MIA from what we heard during spring practice. Not much positive. But he acquitted himself nicely against the top D. Would imagine he just isn’t getting things done the right way in practice, cause he looked like the best back that played yesterday.

Agree. I was pleasantly surprised with how he looked.

Bradley didnt look great in practice, but not bad either.
He's young. People forget that he's a sophomore. While there are more and more kids playing early these days, there are still the traditional kids who need a few years. Bradley needs another year, which is why Mills is so important.
Frost is definitely hoping the newcomers this fall can contribute, or maybe someone gets significantly better in fall practice.

I thought DB had an interesting comment about his weight. Something to the effect of him being back at his HS weight and being more comfortable, sans much heavier and watching other people. I was also pleasantly surprised.

Agreed...he needs to work on catching the ball out of the backfield during the off season. Didn't he have at least 2-3 drops yesterday?

I was happy to see him get on the field and hopefully he can make an impact in the 2019 season.

He's listed at 6 foot/210, same as last year. Listed at 182 on his Rivals page and 180 as a frosh. This may be more of an issue of playing at a good or "Duval" 200 vs. whatever he was doing before.
Hope the kid doesn't give up. Lots of competition coming in between now and August.

Agree

I do think they could get by with Mazour and Bradley in spot duty if necessary but neither should be counted on to carry the load during B1G play

The other wild card would be Ronald Thompkins, but he is coming off 2 knee surgery’s and we won’t know how he performs till this August..

In short yardage situations, Mazour was far better than Bell. Bradley did just fine running the ball but in this offense. Frost wants the running backs to be reliable in the passing game as well, and JB is nowhere close at this point. That's why I'd expect guys like Belt and Mazour to play before Bradley.

If we get all our RBs N it will be a strength. Having Wandale and JD on the field will be game changers. Nance, Houston, Woodyard and Hunt will be good ones. I agree we need more LBs and OGs. Also more interior D linemen.

Probably the latter. A lot of guys looked better from what I could see yesterday. Colin Miller really stood out to me (body wise). I saw him in person last summer and he looked somewhat fat". He looked much more defined .

Still not sure what people see in Alex Davis. He had a couple nice sacks yesterday, but on the mental side of the game he has a lot of work to do. A couple times I saw him crash hard inside and the running back runs right past the spot he should be filling for a chunk yardage gain.

It would be nice if Domann could become an every down type player instead of just a situational player, but he needs to work on his consistency. Tyrin Ferguson is a stud on one side. Just need to find an OLB at the other side who can play consistently.

Boundary vs Field OLB...VERY different body types and skill sets

Bell was dinged up.

Bradley looks tentative, reminds me a bit of Newby before his senior year where if the lane wasn't obvious he wasn't going to give 100% effort on the play. But give him a good crease and he's a gamer. Sounds like it's all mental/attitude with him.

Belt didn't blow me away. Great story and made some nice moves but seemed pretty ordinary in space. Looks awfully skinny in the legs still. Strikes me more as Wyatt 2.0 than Rex 2.0.

But if he's making correct reads, alignments, and cuts that will put him ahead of more explosive guys who can't get lined up or hang onto passes.

I really like Rahmir, and I want to see them use Miles out of the backfield a lot.

I saw him do some things really well and then at other times he would drop easy passes and fumble. It was set up for him this spring to really make a statement but I did not see the consistency that I think the coaches are looking for. Granted it was just the spring game and maybe I saw it all wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Hope he turns into the animal I thought he would become.
