Having seen many Iggy teams show up and deliver early in games, I was not surprised by how well they played. Too few guys on the line haunts the Wolfpack, but one has to admire their determination; these kids are going places and it is fun to watch them compete in a true love of the game way and leave it all on the field --- truly empty tanks.
The Triple-Option poses the challenge of abandoning routine schemes, assignments and techniques. They take advantage of those nuances very well. The Hilltoppers D was stymied by it. Well done Wolfpack.
The Hilltoppers need to clean up a lot of little things and silly penalties over the next few weeks or face an early exit if they make the playoffs. It just didn't appear that the intensity was there. They squandered several opportunities to pull away on the scoreboard which let Iggy hang around. Teams with more depth will seize opportunities like that.
There is a lot of skill and the Hilltoppers have the chance to be a very dangerous team, but the season's runway is getting shorter and shorter.
Hopefully they can click consistently.
