a happy marriage without even a thought of marriage counseling.
Correct, They are in the perfect spot. Why would JCA move, wouldn't any other conference be a terrible move for their girls sports?
Gentlemen:
Please allow me to explain...I brought JCA into the mix simply to point out that some programs- like yours-relish in the opportunity to compete against any and all comers. On the other hand...some programs retreat from stern competition and create a facade , or passively sit by as one is created, that they are better than they are.
Ergo the Chicago Mediocre Conference...
On another thread I brought JCA, Montini, Marmion and Fenwick into the mix, in an attempt to point that out. I'm not suggesting the JCA would ever leave the SCC. Nor do I believe it's likely that Fenwick or Montini will leave the CL.
I apologize if I created any unnecessary speculation.

The only real complaint for JCA in the ESCC is the geography in travelling to Woodstock, Mudelein,,etc
This is why I'd like to see the ESCC add two schools and have North and South Divisions of 6 schools each. In football, they do something similar now with the North/South setup. But, two more schools could further reduce the travel demands. The only real complaint for JCA in the ESCC is the geography in travelling to Woodstock, Mudelein,,etc

They could add Loyola and PC, that way the girls and boys could be in the same conference.
Yes, if Loyola and PC join the ESCC then both the boys and girls could be in the same conference.I'm confused.
LA and PC girls compete in the GCAC. PC girls just left the ESCC, along with Fenwick & B-Mac.

Yeah, but the CMC fell apart for a reason. I think it makes sense too, but I just don't see it happening.CCL - ESCC mega conference merger solves all problems.
Yep, I love that. Like in Euro soccer minus the Euro and the soccer.I loved the promotion/demotion every 2 years with the CMC

Adding and subtracting makes no sense.
Agreed. My sense is there are lingering feelings of resentment between the ESCC and CCL. I think a combination makes sense on a competitive and geographic level. I'm not close enough to the schools to ascertain if they'd even consider another try at a combination of the two conferences. My gut feeling is many will not. And it's enough to prevent even preliminary discussions from taking place. It's too bad for all involved, IMO.Times have changed. The reasons it fell apart have changed. Why hold the current situation hostage to a former situation that is no longer relevant?
No one likes those commutes, obviously, but I'm not sure a split conference based on geography is preferred by most, either. As is, it seems to be a setup that works for most involved. Of course, as is the case with any conference, even the slightest shuffling could change the whole dynamic.Unless, of course, the result of that math is even better than what you claim you like now. Problem is, you won't know if its better because you like what you like right now and don't seem open to other possibilities.
You like those Mundelein-Joliet, Mundelein-Lisle, Mundelein-Mt. Greenwood, and Mundelein-Chicago Heights round trip commutes do ya?

Imagine a northern football division of Loyola, Fenwick, Carmel, NDCP, St. Pat's, Viator, and MCC. There would be six division games, one crossover and two non-con games.
If you wanted divisions of six, take Fenwick out of the above grouping and put them with more centrally located schools like Montini, Naz, Ignatius, Laurence and DLS. Schools would play five division games, two crossovers, and two non-cons.
How about a southern division of BR, SR, MC, PC, Marist, JCA and Benet? Not sure what to do with Marian of the Heights.
It's an eyebrow raiser, if nothing else.
Agreed but it could also be worked out with the administrations to have the longer travel games on the weekends. It would take a little effort from the Athletic Departments but that can easily be solved.IMO, the number one factor in any conference alignment should be the minimization of weekday contest travel to get students-athletes home to attend to schoolwork, nourishment and rest.
They pretty much already do that in a lot of sports. I know for baseball, the weekend DH's are against the schools the farthest away and the weekday games at the ones closer. JCA typically plays the DH's against Pats, Viator, ND, COM, MCC and weekday games Naz, Benet, Marist, MC,Agreed but it could also be worked out with the administrations to have the longer travel games on the weekends. It would take a little effort from the Athletic Departments but that can easily be solved.
However, so many sports (cross-country, track/field, golf, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, badminton, swimming, etc.) are geared to have conference competition Mon-Thurs with tournaments/invitationals on Fridays and Saturdays. The option for long conference trips on the weekend does not actually exist in practice.Agreed but it could also be worked out with the administrations to have the longer travel games on the weekends.
