Landon Young, Drake Jackson, Davonte Robinson, etc were of his caliber and are Wildcats. The support of the football program with resources is at an all time high now. The last piece of the puzzle is to start winning more games. Once that happens I'm willing to bet that local players the caliber of Wills won't have a reason to leave the state.
He better hope he's happy there because if he decides to transfer Saban may block it. What a d#ck move. I can't see Stoops pulling some crap like that.
I've been very disappointed in Saban not allowing Mo Smith to transfer to any school he wants. Both Saban and Kirby have handled things the wrong way in the offseason by blocking transfers. If coaches can change jobs, why can't players transfer to where they want to go?
We can ALL make all the excuses and reasonings we want, but let's be honest and realistic with this...IT IS A HUGE LOSS for the program if nothing more than from an image stand point...the program will very seldom have a shot recruit a kid of this caliber especially one from the state in your backdoorI'm just glad that we're not being lead to believe he's interested if he's really not.
We'll have a good class at the end. so its all good.
Didn't his parents go to UK?

Oh they don't want them, guys like Saban just want to be able to tell them where they can go. It's totally unfair and the rule should be changed asap!!!Never have figured out why coaches wanted guys who didn't want to be there.
Mom went to EKU. Dad is a coachDidn't his parents go to UK?
This has been the case since Paul Hornung chose Notre Dame. Until we win and win consistently, the very best Kentucky players on average will choose the top five programs. As another poster commented, Cal can more often than not pick and recruit the very best recruits. We are in catchup mode with the Jedrick Wills caliber player. We can ALL make all the excuses and reasonings we want, but let's be honest and realistic with this...IT IS A HUGE LOSS for the program if nothing more than from an image stand point...the program will very seldom have a shot recruit a kid of this caliber especially one from the state in your backdoor

It sucks when we finally do have a national top 25 player in our home state it turns out he doesn't seem to be much of a Kentucky football fan. I usually wouldn't care, but the offensive line is a must have and a guy like this would help turn ours from average to good. I understand the respect people have for Saban and Bama. It's well earned. If the kid decides on Bama, odds are he will get the chance to play for a national title during his time playing college football. I wish more of these kids would have the desire to make Kentucky football something worth watching. I get that they want to do the best for their careers. They should think that way. Too bad it doesn't look like Kentucky football is the best fit for him. It's hard to imagine a kid playing in Lexington not really being interested in Kentucky football. I don't know how that even happens. We will live and move on and recruit a guy that does want Kentucky. He won't be rated as high of a prospect, but at least he wants Kentucky. I'm confident that when we do start winning more games and going to bowl games, losing our elite prospects to Bama or anybody else won't happen. This commitment to Kentucky would have meant a lot more to us Kentucky fans than what it will to Bama fans. They have a roster full of these guys. I do believe we have the coach to turn things around, but while it is underway, it sucks to lose a talent like this kid and then have to play against him in the Sec.
Actually the Hornung was quite different...Paul wanted UK and to play for Bryant, but his mom was a single parent and Devout Catholic and wanted ND.This has been the case since Paul Hornung chose Notre Dame. Ala is much higher rated academicly I think than UKShaw seems really excited over Alabama. Our football and academics is good enough for guys like Jackson, Young and Daniels but not for Wills. What gives?
I think it's starts with beating teams like Vandy,Missouri,South Carolina and UofL on a consistent basis. If UK does that then bowl seasons will be a regular occurrence and I believe the recruiting will really take off then. What comes first...the chicken or the egg?
Well, Shaw seems to think there is a big difference in academics between the two. Wonder how many recruits we lose because of that?Ala is much higher rated academicly I think than UK
The best thing we can do is beat Alabama!Imo, the best thing for stoops to do would be to get in on another big time tackle. It's hard I know but not impossible. The better it season the easier it will be. Wills send like a great talent and I would love to have him at UK. I pull more for the KY kids. I'm sure Alabama fans do the same. But I'm movimg on.
Hell I'd settle for everybody but Ala:football::football::smiley::smiley::sunglasses:The best thing we can do is beat Alabama!
It also puts a feather in the coaches hat if he as aspirations of coaching in college somedayWell, Shaw seems to think there is a big difference in academics between the two. Wonder how many recruits we lose because of that?
This may be but I can't hardly believe it.Ala is much higher rated academicly I think than UK
Those are both respectable and really not much difference. Sometimes it comes down to the particular program a students wants to go into. One school may be much better at a certain area of study.Ala-96 .. UK-129

I agree about the coaching deal, if they had to sit out a year when they decided the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, it probably wouldn't look as green. Now that is a head coach, a coordinator getting a head coaching job is different. I understand a coach not wanting a kid to transfer to a school on the schedule, but Kirby orginally blocking the move to Miami or FSU was a d#%$ move, to UF or GT or someone else we play is a little different. The grad transfer can be looked at different ways. If Bama doesn't offer his grad degree, UGA does its certainly a d$%# move on Saban's part. Takes away the chance to get his grad degree paid for. I don't know anything about is degree or what its even in or who offers it. kirby did say today he wouldn't block a grad transfer, but we'll see about that when it happens I guess.
